I always say that..I LOVE planning..anything! I'm always planning parties for friends/family, I'm planning my own wedding. I'm very organized and I just enjoy the whole Idea of planning such a special day for someone else.
Actually a very good family friend of mine is a wedding planner. Shes been doing it for over 15 yrs. Next time I see her I'm going to have to grill her on how she got started!

Re: getting into the wedding/ event planning business.

I would love to do somethintg like this but I think I am tooo over organized. Not sure how to start. you have to have a knack for things though. Design, planning, etc. I wonder if there is a degree for wedding planning.

Re: getting into the wedding/ event planning business.

I am an event planner (not weddings) it is a lot fun but extremely stressful at times. I actually have sent my resume to several of the Wedding Planners on here to see about an industry change. Wish me luck!

Re: getting into the wedding/ event planning business.

Thanks. I have other certifications -- I will have to look into the other courses. I find it more to be about experience and networking then classroom knowledge but that is my opinion.

I was an event planner too and I agree. My meeting planner certifications courses and other courses were useless. You learn everything as you go and you learn things at your events that you would never learn in a classroom. But, some companies require the certifications and it never hurts on a resume.
