kids say the darndest things...

and their parents think its funny

I have one student in my class who can really just get under your skin (I teach 1st grade). All day he was dying to tell me a story but I told him he couldnt because he kept asking in the middle of lessons and etc. so at dismissal his mother picks him (and is standing next to him) he asks me if he could now tell me the story. so I said yes.

He goes on to tell me about the aquarium and i dont know what else - b/c really he just goes on and on... then he gets to one point ( i think he changed subjects to the zoo) and says

'He was so big and I could see he had a big d*ck'

I almost died! his mother who doesnt speak english fluently thought it was funny, i yelled at the kid for saying it and his mother tried to tell me that she doesnt know those words and she doesnt know how he knows it.. but she was so full of it.

the things these kids say

Oh, good Lord. He had to have heard it somewhere!

Mayhaps mom should learn English, so she knows what her kid is saying.

Re: kids say the darndest things...

OMG!!

First off, the mother is def. full of it..I don't care what language you speak..everyone knows all the dirty words in almost every language lolz..

It's kinda funny when another kid says it because of the shock value...lolz..but on the serious side..its so scary to know what these kids are hearing and seeing these days. I feel like there's no 'childhood' anymore.

I worked in a day care for a while..and you really can't believe half the things these parents let their kids see and hear...

I'm sorry but no 6 year old should know that word. I would have been so embarrassed if one of my students said that to me in front of his mother. Good for you for yelling at him!

my friend had a student last year in 1st grade that would write notes to the girls telling them he wanted to have s e x with them. and he said he knew what it was because he hears his dad talking about it (he prob saw them doing it) Parents are screwed up!!

oh I was pissed!!! (i seriously wanted to laugh because it was embarrassing - esp since his mother was right there) but I let him have it. He needed to know that, that is UNACCEPTABLE!

Of course after the fact i nearly peed my pants thinking about it

Re: kids say the darndest things...

omg that is so sad/hysterical!!!

i just dont get why you would assume the mother knows the word? i mean, why would she let him say it then my mom definitely didn't learn the curse words until we got older - even though she learned english soon after getting here. . . there are still some bad words that i have to explain to her

haha i know what you are saying - but i can just tell that this mother is full of it. a lot of them play the 'i dont understand' card when its convient and she is one of them. my friend taught this kid last year

and some parents are nuts - they think its okay to talk to there 6 year olds and use words like that.

my friend made the mistake of calling hte mother once from her cell without blocking it and the mother and the student still call her to say hi and to give her an update on his life. example: he fell the other day and had to get a staple in his head, or he wants to know what 100 plus 100 is.

LOL i am so naive when it comes to this stuff, although i do hear horror stories from all my friends who are teachers!!

i just cant believe parents are like that. I was a perfect student but whatever the teacher said was gospel PERIOD. Like if a teacher were to say I cheated, then I cheated and I would have been punished probably until somewhere around my wedding day - none of that 'not my baby' bs!!!

i know what you mean. I was actually talking about this with my friend the other day. We were saying that if my teacher ever had to call my parents because i was misbehaving, i might as well have found a new place to live. Acting like that was just not an option. Unfortunetly not all parents are involved like they should or should be able to have children.

i am sorry i am just picturing like a 5 year old packing her stuff to leave home

my parents were the same way - i was telling FH's 10 year old niece that i wasnt allowed to sleep by FH's and she was like what do you mean NOT allowed?

and she couldnt understand that since i still lived at home, i still had rules that i had to follow - not many obviously but out of respect i couldnt sleep by FH's and that was that, there is no arguing ( doesnt mean that i dont come home at 6AM )

and she totally didnt understand the *fear* i felt when i talked about 'gettin in trouble'
