BTDT moms-reading to baby while pg

Did you read to your babies when you were pg? I'm in my 5 month now (just completed 4) and I read that this is when the fetus will begin respond to sounds and voices. If you did read, what exactly did you do? Should I just go to the library and take children's books out?

Baby Oh Baby The Places You'll Go. FH or I read this to dd every night before I went to bed while she was in the belly. She used to calm down when I read this to her when she was just out. I dont know if this was just a responce to someone talking to her or if she really recognized it.

We read to the baby almost every night starting in the second trimester. It actually used to make him flip around in my belly...might have been the sound of DH's voice. We still read to him every night now, and he loves it!

Claud-what kinds of books did you read? Did you read the same one, or change them? Were they always children's books?

During pregnancy, we read a large Winnie the Pooh story book, and a book of Classic Nursery Rhymes.
Now we are reading Dr. Suess, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Brown Bear, Brown Bear, Guess How Much I Love You, Goodnight Moon and soooo many others. We have a ton of little board books, and Paul's great aunt gave us some little golden books for Christmas. He's got a nice collection already and he's only 8 mos. old!
