This MOB gown shopping was a drag, today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Debi and I drove about an hour to a shop that was listed on-line as being able to order the shoes she wants. Got there, but they no longer sell shoes! Returned to Lancaster, going to another Bridal Shop. Debi tried some shoes but they were not in pristeen condition, and even though they were discounted, Debi didn't get them. I asked about MOB Gowns, and the only designer she carried was Mon Cheri. I looked at her book, but nothing appealed to me. I looked at what she had in the store, and nothing appealed to me. Then, I tried on a very lt. pink gown, that wasn't the right size, showed every skin wrinkle because of the tight skirt, and Debi had to help me get the thing off, because of my arm pain!! Ladies, I was really worried I couldn't get it off!! I told Debi, 'This is why some Moms drag their feet!!!' I haven't lost all my weight, so I feel uncomfortabe, there never seems to be dresses my size, so one can zip them up the whole way, I'm not finding what I'm looking for, etc., etc., etc.!!!!!! I'm SO FRUSTRATED!!!! Unfortunately, this is not N.Y.!!!!!!!We don't have mutiple choices. The gowns I had showed some of you, were nowhere to be seen, today!! Not even a reasonable facsimile!!!!!!
The movie 27 dresses was good!!
Signed, I'm not an entirely happy camper today!!!! Mary

Sorry you didn't have any success. Even though this is NY....size choices are lacking here also. I'm not having fun shopping for a dress either.

Don't worry Mary you will get something. Remember that most dresses that the stores have are samples and you have to use your imagination as to how the right size will look on you. They just give you an idea of how it looks. If you feel that you are unable to find something in PA then maybe you should come to NY. I'm sure with all the stores here you will find something. Nina's mom came all the way from Roswell, NM to get her gown here in Brooklyn. She was thrilled because they had the exact dress she saw online and was hoping to find. They then shipped it to her when it came in and she got it altered in NM. Think about it.

Know what you mean. I hated shopping for my dress but like you said we have a large selection of places in NY and when I finally found my dress I fell in love with it. Another option is to order a few from a store like Nordstrom or Macys and try on a batch and then return the ones you don't like, or take a trip out here to long island. Three are soooo many stores out here. Good luck. Susan

Mary...don't give up! It is hard I agree. I can very rarely zip the dresses. I hate that but that is the way it is for most of us! Keep in mind the dresses usually run about 2 sizes smaller than they are marked. In formals many times a 10 is really cut like a 6. Should you have the opportunity to come out to Long Island ...do it. There are many places I can tell you to try. I know it is hard leaving your mom..maybe someone can stay with her while you and Debbie take a road trip. There is a store near to your catering hall that has the samples in sizes and that helps alot. Let me know if I can help. I told you .... I do not enjoy the dress selection process either....keep your chin up sweetheart.
