Re: Any unique places to take pics in Nassau County

FH & I spend a lot of time outdoors in Nassau on the weekends. Here are some of our favorite spots.

I love the Sands Point Preserve in Sands Point (Port Washington). They have several different mansions you can use as backgrounds (one looks like a castle) as well as trails in the woods and a path that leads to the water, so that you can have a great variety of photos in a very small area.

I also really like Planting Fields arboretum in Oyster Bay.

Another unique one is Nassau County Museum of Art in Roslyn. They have a formal rose garden that is beautiful as well as some fun outdoor art sculptures that might make interesting backgrounds in your pics

I'm sure you know about these, but there's Old Westbury Gardens. I've heard CW Post campus is great also, but I've never been. And you can take pics in EAB Plaza.

Re: Any unique places to take pics in Nassau County

I don't care for it either, but I just wanted to put it out there.

I've heard Old Westbury Gardens is very expensive. And they only let you in for an hour and then have you leave. My photographer said that they have you pick 3 spots you will use, and then a staffer goes around with you to make sure that you don't go other places, and that you are only there for an hour. I think they have multiple wedding parties taking pics there at once, and they must make a lot off it.

My photographer told me that Planting Fields is MUCH cheaper and they don't have the staff to moniter how long you are there and where you go.

Edited to say: EAB PLaza charges, but I don't know how much. Sands Point is a Nassau County park, so I think it's just the parking fee and you don't need to make arrangements ahead of time. Not sure about Post or NC Museum of Art.

Re: Any unique places to take pics in Nassau County

No problem.

I live a few miles up Little Neck Parkway from the Farm Museum. Can you believe we've never been there? We go to parks all over LI all the time, and never think to go up the road.

Re: Any unique places to take pics in Nassau County

We had our pre-ceremony pics taken at the Sands Point Preserve. The castles are beautiful, and it is right on the water, but the beach isn't really accessible without getting your dress ruined. We just took our pics on the field with the castles as the background.
The fee was $2 per person!

I posted pics here, so feel free to do a search.

Re: Any unique places to take pics in Nassau County

CW Post has beautiful grounds. I'm sure a picture in front of the mansion looks nice. I don't know if they charge. www.liu.edu

Planting Fields in Oyster Bay is gorgeous. What about a place in Eisenhower Park? I don't know if they have anything??

Re: Any unique places to take pics in Nassau County

Eisenhower Park is a good idea. They have several ponds in there that are supposed to be nice. I know someone who works for the county and she recently told me that Eisenhower is larger than Central Park.

Re: Any unique places to take pics in Nassau County

Planting Fields Arboretum is right by me. It's a beautiful place. I believe they only would charge a $5 per car parking fee. But I could be wrong, I never checked. That's what it is to visit.

I do work at the C.W. Post Campus and there are many beautiful spots to take photos. I can't see there being a fee for that.

I also love the Nassau County Museum of Art in Roslyn. Not sure of pricing.

I think all these were mentioned. Just wanted to share my thoughts and say they are all beautiful spots to take pics.

Re: Any unique places to take pics in Nassau County

Planting Fields is BEAUTIFUL & costs about $90-$100 for an hour and a half and WESTBURY GARDENS is a rip off in my opinion it ranges from $375-$475 depending on the time of year, time etc... Another cool place is the gardens @ SUNY Farmingdale--they have beautiful gardens in the horticulture area - it is a well kept secret--it only costs about $100-$120 i believe.

I definetley wouldn't recommend EAB.
