How did you pick your wedding date?

Hi Ladies,

Some of us have the same day, same month,many the same year but we all picked our wedding dates for different reasons I am sure.

We picked ours: 10/11/09 since we wanted a Fall wedding and did not want to rush for Fall 2008. 10/11 fell on Columbus Day wknd allowing for us to have a sunday and feel like a saturday. I also have this thing with numbers so once in order the numbers are 9 -10-11. i know weird but sometimes I am lol

our wedding date is our 6th anniversary.

We don't have a romantic meaning or something smart or cleve. It just works best in our schedule. (1/18/09)

Our date is 9/6/09 which is the sunday of Labor day weekend. I wanted to get that date because everyone is off on Monday and I am getting a good price since it is on a Sunday........and i turn 30 the day before!!!

We really wanted to get married this Spring, but we couldn't afford it, so my FH said what date in 2009 would make you happy and not mind waiting another year and I said my favorite numbers 4 and 24 and it just so happened that 4/24 was a Friday. He really wanted a Saturday night, but let me have my date instead. I've always loved 4/24 and now it will mean something to us. I love him so much for that.

I went to the hall with a specific time of the year I had in mind. I knew I wanted a fall wedding. 11/7/09 just happened to be available at CLM for a great price, so that's when we're getting married!

We went with the date that was most affordable for us and that didn't have any other conflicts. It wasn't special before, but it sure is now!!

our anny is 2.2 so we wanted to stick with the 2 theme but needed it in the summer so 8.2 fell on the weekend and it just so happened that it is our 8 1/2 yr anny on that date

We really wanted Fall but, the $$$$. So we were going with a Friday night in the winter but, found a Thursday night in the summer was the cheapest all around. I happen to have the 2 weeks off at that time and it is my parents wedding anniversary as well.

ummm...well, we said lets do a summer wedding...lets do a friday night...ok lets do July 3rd...haha

Had no significance to us at all...just worked out nicely.

We wanted the summer... it needed to be July because we're not sure if we're going to be Long Island teachers or Maryland teachers by that time... and we kind of liked the sound of July 10th. we didn't want the 3rd because our colors are navy and claret... and we didn't want people thinking american flag - i'm resigned to the fact they will probably think that anyway... but it's going to be beautiful and that's all i care about at this point :)

we picked 10/11/09 because it was a Sunday before Columbus day, so it was cheeper. But i'm happy with the date.

I wanted my parents 30th wedding anniversary. Lucky for us it was the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend!

we;re both teachers....well FH is and i'm still looking for a job but June 28th just made sense since its the start of the summer for both of us

we picked our date based on what was available at our RH at a price we could afford! lol

We picked a time where we knew people would be out of school, off from work, and a long weekend so people could travel. We also wanted a winter wedding because the prices are cheaper, we are taking our HM right after the wedding, and we want to appreciate the warm weather we are flying towards!

i wanted to get married this summer, and i threw it out there, but FH didn't think it was the best idea- first, we didn't get engaged until christmas time, so it would be a fast planning period (and especially tricky since we live in SC). second- we have 5 other weddings to go to this summer, and third- i think he was a little freaked out that it would be happening out fast...

anyway, it was actually really hard to find a date bc my dad is only off every other weekend... don't know why he couldn't take off for his youngest daughters wedding! we also only wanted to get married in june, so it was tricky, but we finally got it!!

We are getting married 5/30/09
we would have liked to get married this year in 08, but i started a new job the same week I got engaged...
so we didn't want to rush our planning. We would have liked to get married in the summer, but it wasn't in our budget. May we thought was nice and warm and a great way to start our summer
the dae worked with both of our schedules which is how we came up witht he date.

08er crashing... our date picked itself!

I'm go to law school OOT and wanted to take a honeymoon which really narrowed our dates to winters or summers. we will have a lot of OOT guests, so we picked summer so travel will be easier. Also, I love the summer and warm weather.

I ruled out summer 09 because I'll be taking the bar exam and didn't want to be distracted from my studying or a miserable bride-to-be. That left summer 08! Sooner than my family thought (they all thought we'd get married right after law school) but we've been together 5.5 years already so we're not really rushing.

2L summer is really important because the firm you work at usually gives you a permanent offer, so I didnt want to miss work or cause my friends to miss work -- that led to the beginning of may or middle of Aug. May is right after finals, and Aug is closer to our anniv of 9/1. I have 2 weeks bw finishing my summer job and starting classes again, so we picked the middle weekend -- gives me one week to go back to NY and relax and get ready, and it also avoids my birthday weekend (8/8)

As for the day itself, I'm Jewish and Jews aren't supposed to get married on Shabbat (Fri sundown -> Sat sundown) and sundown is late in Aug so we'd have to start our ceremony at like 8 or 8:30pm. Sooo we decided to do Sunday afternoon. I love sun and daylight

Unfortunately bc of our tight schedule we leave for our honeymoon the next morning, but that's what my parents did and it will work out fine

we wanted a spring wedding, but it was pretty pricey, and we were flexible. but we definitly wanted it to be during the warmer months so we could take a longer honeymoon.. and 8/7/09 was open.. we got an amazing deal and now we all the time in the world to take our honeymoon.

plus im pretty anal and like how its 8-7-9. easy to remember.

I actually always wanted a summer wedding but it was too much $$$$. We considered a Thurs. night but I wanted all of our family members to be able to come without a problem. When we found out how great the prices were in the off-season months, we decided to go with March. We picked the last weekend in March hoping that since it is as close to Spring as we can get, we might get a nice day. We also chose to do a Saturday afternoon. I wanted to have daylight and be able to look out the large windows at my RH and see the nice view. So, now March 28th is our special day!

we wanted to get married a year after my sister and we also wanted his family to be able to come from croatia (they own a bed and breakfast there and cant come during their busy months )
