Dress shopping... Is this normal???
So I went dress shopping for my first time... very exciting and a bit surreal. When I was trying on dresses I was asking the name of the designer and they said they didn't know they just knew the numbers. Is this normal? I wanted to know so that I can do some research and check out the designers other dresses to see if there are others that I may like even more. I checked the dresses and all tags were removed. It annoyed me a bit... but this is my first place so maybe this is typical. I feel like I should know what I am buying before I put out that much money... right?????

Re: Dress shopping... Is this normal???
I've heard that there are shops that do this! It's unbelievable! I personally would never buy from a shop who removes the tags from the dresses and doesn't share information regarding the designer. I think it's deceitful and dishonest!

Re: Dress shopping... Is this normal???
Where did you go? I didn't have that experience in any of the places I went to. Some wouldn't tell me the style numbers but I definitely knew the designers of all of the dresses.Good luck!

I totally agree, you need to feel comfortable and not like all they care about is a sale, you'll need their service from beginning to end.

Thats ridiculous. I think you can report the store to the BBB or something for doing that.

Re: Dress shopping... Is this normal???
According to the book 'Bridal Bargains,' it is legal for stores to do this so long as the tags are replaced with the store's own inventory system. At least that's what the 7th edition said; the 8th is out, but I haven't read it.OP, that appears to be what happened here, although I think the line about not knowing what designer the dress is was meant to prevent you from comparison shopping. I wouldn't buy from this store, either.

Re: Dress shopping... Is this normal???
It just doesn't seem right. You should be able to knwo the designer at least...maybe not the style. And why shouldn't you be allowed to comparison shop. If you are a store that prides yourself on service and good prices then there's nothing to worry about. right??

Re: Dress shopping... Is this normal???
I am just so upset now that I can't find what designer made those 2 dresses. Does anyone have any suggestions?? I have the numbers that were on the tag. I am sure one is the in house number for the designer and the other number was the style number. I also was not allowed to take a picture to even be able to post.Any suggestions would help................

Re: Dress shopping... Is this normal???
i would be just as deceitful as them - go back and want to leave a deposit on the dress so they can call you if it gets discontinuedtell them you want to know the designer
style number
and size and what colors it is available in
since they will think you are serious - they have to tell you

You can try going to the bridal salons website and see what designers they carry and then go directly to those designers websites.

Re: Dress shopping... Is this normal???
Hi!I have tried to google the numbers with no luck at all. I have also gone to the designers sites that are listed but have not found those 2 dresses anywhere. I am not saying these are definitely the ones but I want to know who the designer is b/c I really like the styles and would like to look into more of their dresses.

Re: Dress shopping... Is this normal???
I just started my dress search as well, and I think I found my dress. I went to two places and both were extremely helpful, one even wrote down the designer and style numbers for me, and both allowed me to take pictures as well, which I have heard some of them do not.Definitely try someplace else
