Facebook or Myspace?

I've started hearing about facebook.com from some of my friends who used to use myspace. Which do you use? Which do you like better? And also what's the difference, why switch?

Re: Facebook or Myspace?

I was on myspace a lot and now all of my friends have switched over to facebook. I signed up last night but didn't really have to time to play around on it. From the looks of it, it is more complicated than myspace

Re: Facebook or Myspace?

I have both, but I really only check facebook.

I like it better b/c you can see everyones status right away and comment on it. (it's sorta like having a thread pos-like banter going) and there is no waiting for them to approve a comment to be seen (they or you can delete if you want to though)

Also, if friends upload new pics it shows you and you can just click and comment right there rather than having to go to their page and waiting for it to load.

A lot of people I know hate it at first but then end up preferring it to myspace.

I have both, but I like myspace better because you can personalize your profile more. Both are good for keeping in touch with people though.

Re: Facebook or Myspace?

I have both and like MySpace better. I honestly hate all the apps like Snowball fights and things on Facebook. I ignore them when I get them - sorry LOL! The only apps I might do on there are the ones like My Calendar, where I would use that anyway, you know? But the amount of friends i have on Facebook compared to MySpace is like double! There are definitely way more people on Facebook these days!

Ditto here, I love it when friends comment on my status or pictures on facebook, I also like that it suggests people you may know based on who your friends are friends with...it's made it easy to find old friends from high school or college.

I also find facebook more mature becaue myspace has a lot of porn people trying to befriend me, or people soliciting their at home businesses or other random junk.

Re: Facebook or Myspace?

facebook has more going on. And I find more people on it than myspace, therefore it makes me go on it more. I like myspace, but not as many of my friends are using it anymore.

Re: Facebook or Myspace?

I have both.

I started with MySpace because my sister was on it and kept hounding me to put up a profile too. When my DH decided to make a page for his business and then made one for himself, I started playing around and created one for myself too.

Then came Facebook much earlier this year..... again, my sister got me into this. I've reconnected with many classmates from elementary school and junior high, and it's great for networking with my young adult cancer survivor groups. DH is floored by just how many old friends and classmates he's reconnected with from his childhood and his old neighborhood.

But with Facebook, I don't like the way it's so revealing, meaning EVERYONE knows every little move you make. I admit I do put up those silly status things. But anytime you join something, everyone knows about it. For instance, one of my sisters is currently dating...... any time she sends a 'flirt' message to someone (similar to a 'wink' on Match.com), EVERYONE who is on her friends list knows that she did that. I think Facebook is less private than MySpace, but I'm finding that lately I'm using it more. My sisters and I use it as a way to communicate when we're busy during the week and want to make weekend plans.

And the whole app thing.... my computer crashes anytime I click those 'someone sent you a _______' like 80s toys and Christmas decorations. So I just click IGNORE, because otherwise I have to reboot.

Re: Facebook or Myspace?

i have both...i used to be SO anti-facebook saying i'd never make one & 'why do i need another one of these things' lol, but honestly i use that more now. I really just log into myspace to see if i have any comments/messages from friends & then log off. I do like the fact that u can personalize myspace a little more with backround, music, things u can add to ur profile, etc...BUT i'm really liking facebook these days for the mere fact that is basic & to the point and really just a nice way to keep in touch with friends...plus i love that u dont have to resize photos!

also just to add: u can put as many privacy settings on facebook as u like. If u don't want everyone seeing every little thing u do, u can make it that way. I actually think that facebook is way more private than myspace.

Re: Facebook or Myspace?

I have facebook & I'm happy with it. I've found a lot of old friends on there that I otherwise would have never spoken with again.
Never had a myspace so I can't comment on that. I once tried to sign up but the page was loading sooo slowly that I just gave up & never tried again.
