Olga, I think Zodiac cafe has a back room where they do parties- I am not sure if they do Saturday nights though (you may have to share the place with other Greekies for bouzoukia night).

Maybe try Telly's Taverna- they just expanded the restaurant to next doo- they may be able to rent out the one side.

I met my FItobe at CAVO TOOO!!!!!! I went out with my friend who had a blind date with my FItobe's cousin - they never got together but we started to talk and a couple of months later it was loveeeeee =))))) I wasn't supposed to go out that night because it was 25 Martiou and my sister and grandmother yiortazoun but somehow my friend complained so much I couldn't take it anymore that I finally said Fine I'll go out for an hour. I was in ghetto pants, some shirt and I HADN"T SHOWERED lol and no Im not kidding - she called me like 2 hours before we went out!!! No makeup, my hair back in a bun - you know I was looking lovely! But he still fell for me that night with me looking lovely in all my glory =))) For our engagemnt we want to do it in Astoria so that we can take all the guys our age to Cavo =))))

lol That's ok - we met 25 martiou of 2000! Just celebrated our three year knowing each other anniversary - we started dating that June =)) YEAH MAN because I was 18 when I met him!!!!! I'll be 22 next month - and the crazy thing is he is from South Jersey!!!! What are the chances you know????

I was talking to my FItobe and he is like we should have the engagement party at Cavo - so I called them up and have an appt for next Tuesday. That's so nuts what they've dont to the place - remember when it was one room!!!!!!!!

Sorry to chime in here girls...but i was laughing with your stories...I met my husband at one of the famous GOYAL get togethers...how cheesy.

I wasn't supposed to go out that night either...I was already in bed in my pajamas and my cousin came over at 11pm and literally dragged me out of bed. I so looked like crap.

Funny on how things work out.

That's ok!!! As long as you met him right?? It's funny - most of the Greek people whomarry other greeks meet at some sort of Greek function - like a kafenio or club or GOYAL =) I never hear - we met at work, we met on the train or whatnot lol

Absolutley!!! I just realized this now lol It's so crazy because I feel everytime someone tells me their story its "well my cousins best friend brought his brother that night we all went out together..." Greeks in 3 generations are all going to be related to each other I swear lol

June Bride - we were there this past summer visiting FItobe family. His mom is down there now finishing up the electrical work =)

He said that the other side of my family (Colombian) & all the Americans here wouldn't understand the point of it - along with all the other traditions - $ stuffing under the mattress & others.... We are getting married in the Greek church, and all of my future children will be baptized in the Greek church as well....

Hi Girls....


I've been to those Thanksgiving parties at the Carltun but that is not the one we met at. They once had a Presidents' day party at Club 151 in Midtown....this is where it happened. Never in my life did I think I would meet my husband at a YAL party.

We are from the mountains in greece....two very small cities, I'm sure noone has heard of. I would love to go to Greece again. When I was in school, I used to go every summer. I haven't been there since 1996.

We are planning a trip next fall...(after the olympics).

Cavo has great food...it would be nice for a shower or small party.

deby - I definetley will let you know. I have an appt with them next Tueday to go check it out. OHMIGOSH appt with cavo's banquet manager - what is going on here!!!! I told the guy on the phone that we met there and he's like we keep hearing that more and more - so hey if you know any lonely Greeks send them to Cavo

LnP - Did you ever think of doing something simple at home with your tight family? Like parents and siblings? Do his parents mind something Greek like that? I don't know any other religion who has an engagemnt thing like we do.
Deby - did you think of doing that too?! We're trying to save money too - but we'll be doing that by not having a bunch of people at the wedding - about 100-110

Scoop - I haven't been to to Cavo since last summer but the food was awesome! That's why we even considered it
