My Metropolitan Wedding GUEST Review

Hi Ladies! I wanted to pass along my review of a wedding I went to at The Metropolitan in Glen Cove on Saturday night and to let the ladies who booked this place, that it was AMAZING!

I can say was AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME!! REALLY!! The place hold only 1 wedding at a time. My friend had the ceremony there as well. When we came in, they served Champagne and Pelligrino - we waited for about 20 minutes and then they opened the room to the right for the ceremony - if you do not have your ceremony there, that room turns into the cocktail hour room.
The ceremony room was decorated beautiful!
The main reception room is bi-leveled.

After the cermony, the coctail hour was held upstairs - they had 2 full bars, a pasta station, a station with veggies, hummas olives, cheese amd dip, and a raw bar with clams, shrimp, mussles, and lobster wich which was AWESOME and by far was the most popular table! Then they had a table with Southwestern Chicken Wraps (with sala, chips, guacamole) that were AMAZING!

The reception was downstairs and was fantastic - my fiancee is still raving about the Penne ala Vodka we had for the 1st course! Next, was a mixed salad with a vinigrette dressing, and then choice of Long Island Duck (which my FI loved), Salmon (which my friend raved about) and I had the Filet Mignon which was delicious- moist and HOT!!! The food is very important to my Italian family and I have to say, A+++++++ for food.

Most of the vendors were from NJ which is where the bride is from. The cool thing about the reception room is that the band is elevated on top of the bar! COOL! The wait staff was VERY attentive and brought you drinks to the table or you could go to the bar - never a wait. Desserts were the cake and passed chocolate covered strawberries and truffles- yummy!

Only negative I can think of was that the coctail hour was upstairs and was a little cramped with 140 or so guests.
Otherwise, the Food and service A+++++++
So for all the ladies who booked or are thinking about booking it - I think you made a great choice!

Re: My Metropolitan Wedding GUEST Review

Another important note on the Metropolitan (unless this has changed since I visited way back when) -- the upstairs cocktail hour room is not wheelchair accessible. There is no elevator! So, if you have any handicapped guests, they would be brought food downstairs but really feel excluded from the festivities. If you are fortunate such that your whole guest list can handle stairs, then I have to agree that they place looks fabulous.

Re: My Metropolitan Wedding GUEST Review

Tanbride - do you know who the band was - there are a number of girls who are looking for bands now - and if they were good maybe you could recommend the band to them

Re: My Metropolitan Wedding GUEST Review

a good point Valenia about the upstairs cocktail hour room not being wheelchair accessible. I didn't even think of that! If you not having your ceremony there, then the cocktail hour room is on the main floor and you will have no problem.

I can't remember the name of the band from NJ - maybe my FI remembers - i will check back.
