looking for a nice weekend getaway in September?

We were planning going away to Key West for a long weekend, but its right in the middle of hurrican season, anyone know of anywhere else that would be a nice weekend getaway?

How about Cape May in NJ? It's so nice down there, and they have great B&B's.

If you don't mind driving (8 hours each way), I'd suggest Niagara Falls. DH and I went there for our anniversary last year and we had fun, although we rarely left the room

We love Newport RI. Have been there many times.
It can be very romantic. There are a lot of nice places to stay, and it's not so crowded.

I wouldn't give up on key west jusy b/c its hurricane season...Its a fabulous place!!!

Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz, NY. Check out their website, www.mohonk.com. That is where me and DH got engaged. It is GORGEOUS!

Newport and Narragansett RI are nice weekend getaways. If it's out of your budget, there are nice beach areas between Mystic CT and Newport RI (like Misquamicut, Watch Hill, Kingstown).

Block Island is quiet and relaxing. I've never stayed there (only day trips), but there are a couple of hotels on the island. In September, you may be able to get some good off-season rates.
