lighting the unity candle
How and when do the moms light the candle? What do they use to light it? (We're getting married at the hall). Where can I find tapers to use?

Re: lighting the unity candle
The tapers are usually sold in the same place as they unity candle itself (and the holders, etc) You can light them after a reading or homily. You should ask your officiant when they like to do it, b/c they usually memorize their routine!

You can get the tapers anywhere. IMO in the Bridal Stores, they are overpriced. I'm getting plain white tapers at any ol store.

Re: lighting the unity candle
In terms of when your Moms light the candles- it really depends on the officant- my Mom's lit the candle in the middle of the ceremony after we said our vows- I have seen them lit before the ceremony as well by the Moms (right before the bridal party comes out).. so really, check your officiant.Welcome New Vendors
