For those not changing their last names...

My FMIL has already commented on how my FH will be terribly hurt and that he just isn't telling me - atually she has been telling other family members as well.

Is anyone else getting this kind of guilt trip?

I am in the same shoes as jagrawal, but if my FMIL did that to me I would tell her to stop spreading the bad news.

Re: For those not changing their last names...

To be honest (and IMO) it really isn't anyone's business so the topic hasn't been brought up by *us*...but my mother did mention it and when I said I was keeping my last name she gave me the 'but it's really your dad's name' spiel. Um, no, sorry, it's *really* MY name and *that's* why I'm keeping it. And a friend gave the 'it will solidify your union' spiel...but I smacked him back down with 'well your EXwife took your last name and your 'solid union' fizzled!

What's important is that both myself & my FH are on the same page...he thinks it would be 'weird' if I *did* want to take his name. Our child(ren) will have his name so there's no issue of it being 'carried' on (him being the only son who will most likely have children).

Re: For those not changing their last names...

Nope, my FMIL said she wished she still had her name! But, my family did think it's weird (they got over it). I'm sure your FH would tell you, not his mom, if he has a problem...I'd let her know that too!
