Real estate Update: Good news

Guys I feel so bad. I know I shouldn't. This guy has been showing us houses for about 7 months.

We put a bid on a house a few months ago and had it inspected. Then decided the house was not for us b/c there was no bathroom upstairs. Recently I noticed this house was back on mls. Anyway when I asked the realtor he said the sellers were mad that we backtracked out of the deal and took it off the market (sort of implying it was our fault they were mad). Meanwhile the house is STILL on the market and they just reduced the price b/c no one wants it.

We felt so guilty about the house above that we put an offer on another house we liked (not loved). We had an engineer come in but I still had DOUBTS. It didn't feel right but we put in a bid b/c I felt pressure from the realtor and my husband to pick a house since we had been looking for so long. Well I convinced my husband we should just look with another real estate b/c we were not in contract yet and this current seller doesn't want to move until Dec.

So Friday afternoon this OTHER realtor calls me twice and says she thinks she found a house that's perfect for us. Well it's the first house both my husband and I said wow it's everything we wanted and we put in an offer Sat. We are waiting to hear.

Anyway I wanted to be honest with the realtor and we called to tell him we didn't want the other house anymore. We told him we went with another house w/ another real estate. He yelled at me for 15 minutes telling me I wasted his time and runined his reputation b/c this is the 2nd house with his agency we back out of.....he made me feel so horrible.

Re: I got into a big fight with my realtor! Little long

Don't feel bad! THis is a HUGE purchase, this realtor acted unprofessional yelling at you, and I'd tell him that you'll report him to his licensing agency if he ever speaks to you in that manner again!

What are you supposed to do, buy a house that your not crazy about and pass up another one that you are?

He didn't find your dream home, therefore he doesn't get the commission.

Re: I got into a big fight with my realtor! Little long

Sorry I tried to edit it

Tammy the dream house is still in ...closer to you I think too! I wanted a 4 bedroom 2 bath house with a den. Everything the old realtor showed us was nice on the bottom and okay on top and I was getting frustrated so we decided to go with another realtor. And 1,2,3 this woman found what we were looking for on the first shot. The house just came on the market but now my realtor is p*ssed we went with someone else.

Re: I got into a big fight with my realtor! Little long

Irene - he feel bad he lost his money! Don't let him make you feel bad. I know you were having problems with this second house and the timing and can't the sellor be part of the problem in that case - I think so?!?! I am sure he didn't say that....Tell him to get over it - it's part of the business.

Anyway - that is exciting news about the newest house...you are saying wow to house and you haven't felt that way yet (and like you say - you have been picky). This house must be terrific! I want to hear about it. FM or email me, sweetie!

Re: I got into a big fight with my realtor! Little long

Dont worry about it, he'll get over it. If he was listening to you or paid any attention during the 7 months he showed you houses, he would have tried to get you into the house you found.

I dont see how you ruined his reputation by going through another realor, that happens all the time.

ETS - cograts finding a home you love.

Re: I got into a big fight with my realtor! Little long

Don't feel bad. It's the realtors job to show you houses you are interested in. Unfortunately he couldn't find what you wanted, and someone else did. It's not personal. You didn't RUIN his reputation. People back out of deals ALL THE TIME. FH and I did. And 7 months is not a long time at all to be looking for a house. It took us a year, and 2 realtors. Well, really 3 bc the house we found was exclusive so we had to go with the listing company, but we had used two different companies before that.

DON'T FEEL BAD! You did NOTHING wrong!! If anything, the realtor should feel bad for not listening to what you wanted. If he had, he would've found you a house sooner.

Re: I got into a big fight with my realtor! Little long

I'm really hoping we get this other new house. The old realtor was saying that I ruined his reputation b/c it is the 2nd deal that was an exclusive listing through his own office (Century21). He was yelling that I have no idea the time and energy he wasted on me it got to the point where I had to hang up on him and I was on the verge of crying.

One of the reasons he is mad is b/c he feels as if we should have looked at this house with the other agent and put the offer through him (which I think is not right) . My only fear is that he knows the listing agent of the house we really want.

Re: I got into a big fight with my realtor! Little long

Even if he did know the listing agent of the house you really want, that agent isn't going to screw you on the deal because she wants her commission!

It's all about the green! Don't worry about this guy, he's a putz!

Re: I got into a big fight with my realtor! Little long

Um - hellooooooooooo! How dare he make you feel that way - you are allowed to back out - if he thinks his reputation is at stake, then get out of the field buddy - happens all the time, every single day. How many times do you feel pressured to put a bid in, even if you're unsure. They try and make you feel like it's the best house in the world, no matter what. 'Ohhhhhhhh, don't worry that the kitchen is from the 1970s, you can just do it over' are you gonna pay for it??...

The realtor is not working for you - he/she is working for the seller........you do what you need to do to be happy with spending YOUR MONEY!!

Re: I got into a big fight with my realtor! Little long

What is his problem!!!!

You are buying a house not a pair of shoes.

This is a MAJOR decision!!! You should NOT be feeling bad. He was very unprofressional, and him yelling at you was totally uncalled for.

Re: I got into a big fight with my realtor! Little long

Congratulations on finding the home you really want! I hope your bid is accepted and all goes smoothly.

As for your first realtor - shame on him for being so unprofessional. The other realtor got you want you wanted and he didn't. If you were shopping for a car and one dealer had the car in the color you wanted and another didnt but said they could find it for you wouldn't you go with the one that had what you wanted in the first place. No difference here.

Eddited to add - we went through 5 different realtors to find our home.

Do not feel bad. This is a huge purchase and I beleive you should only buy what would truly make you happy. I have been having a hard time shopping for a condo and dealing with realtors too. Stay strong, and I wish you the house of your dreams!

Re: I got into a big fight with my realtor! Little long

If you watch enough of hgtv's show House Hunters many of the people went through a few realtors before they found one that understood what they want. Recently my BIL and SIL just bought a home in CT. They started with one realtor in Putnum County NY and could not find a thing. I believe they had a total of 4 realtor and saw over 90 homes in the end. Plus they also put a bid on a home and then the last home they saw is the one they just moved into on the 1st of july. So, do not let this guy get to you. He was not nice and should be more understanding. Him pushing you to but would have drove me away. Good Luck.

Re: I got into a big fight with my realtor! Little long

Irene,
YOU are the CUSTOMEr, and it was very unproffesional for him to yell at you. This is a big purchase the biggest one you two will ever make and you have to make sure you are making the right one and especially with the right real estate. Consider this a blessing that you foud something else so you wont have to deal with him any longer..and also something to remember he works for the seller not the buyer.. most agents do...so you always have to be on your toes.. I too walked away from a house i had inspected because there were things i just didnt like about it after... i do not feel at ALL bad, and that house is STILL on the market also.

I hope this new house is everything you want and more..

Re: I got into a big fight with my realtor! Little long

Irene ... marni makes a very good point! The realtor works for the seller & now he's out of luck on his commission! Well good for you for going with someone else! ... after not getting you into a house that you really liked, then its his problem ... he didn't do his job! If he'd have found you the house you really wanted, he wouldn't be in this situation! Just as the others were saying .... don't let this guy make you feel bad. You're NOT obligated to him! IN ANY WAY!!!!

Meanwhile ... this sounds wonderful & hopefully you'll be on your way to closing ASAP! That means you'll be nearby BEFORE the baby comes!!! And I love that its closer ... what street?

Call me later & let me know how the bidding went. And I wouldn't give up if it doesn't immediately work out. It will eventually.

Irene,

DO NOT FEEL BAD, he is just p/o'd becasue he lost out on $$$$. IF he truly was listening to what you and DH were saying he would have showed you homes more along what you were interested in.

Best Wishes on this house.. I hope you get it

Re: I got into a big fight with my realtor! Little long

Im laughing at the part about the owners taking the hous off the market because they were mad you backed out. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's the silliest thing I heard, who would do that?

Dont worry about it. A home purchase is the largest purchase the average person makes in their life so you go with what makes you & DH happy.

You wouldnt be the first person to be unsure after a bid.

I had a realtor get annoyed with us after he showed us 5 homes in one day - only one day - and we didnt like any. On the last one he gave me this big exaggerated sigh and said 'What's wrong with THIS one??!' P*ss off!
