Re: One of my response cards that I received todays say...
I'm so dreading that is going to happen to me. We want no one under 18 and I overheard one of my FH long time neighbors telling his 3 daughters that our wedding was something for them to all look forward to

I find that so despicable - not to be so harsh, but what are people thinking??? If this happens to me I am going to be FURIOUS! It already happened with my shower and my mom said absolutely NOT!

Re: One of my response cards that I received todays say...
I had that happen... we specifically made it known that we were not having children at the reception, and DH's SIL wrote in her kid... for spite, i think, so i asked MIL to call her and set her straight. this really messed up our relationship though, she didn't show up at my shower or send a gift or anything because of this. ughhh.

Re: One of my response cards that I received todays say...
You need to take care of this ASAP. The guests may change their minds about attending the wedding without their child- but do NOT give in because if you do then you will have to for everyone. You can also ask your Mom or MIL (depending on who the guest is) to call and clear this up.Just be polite and say 'I got your response card today and we are very excited you will attending the wedding. However, I am not sure if you are aware that we did not invite children to the reception. I hope that you and your husband/wife can still attend' and see what they say.

I would tell them now. Gives them time to find babysitter and/or decline. One couple did that to me that were coming from Florida. I'm letting it go being that I don't think they have any relatives to watch the kid.

Re: One of my response cards that I received todays say...
I am nervous that this may happen to me too. You must take care of it right away and explain nicely but firmly that it's an adult reception and if I say yes to then I must say yes to all and this is not what we want, we can't afford it, etc. If they don't want to come then...so be it.

Re: One of my response cards that I received todays say...
I would tell them that the reception is 'adult only' but if they were still going to bring the kids (this is if they are out of town) then you would find them a babysitter (up to you if you want to pay for sitter).

I would call right away! I like the way Michelle31 phrased it.IMO, I would not pay for their sitter - its not your job and you have a lot of other things to worry about and deal with!

Re: One of my response cards that I received todays say...
Call them right away. Just politely explain that you are not having children at the wedding (use WHATEVER reason you want)A couple reasons you can give:
The extra guests are not in your budget (3 mouths to feed is a LOT) this works well if you have a big wedding
It is 'adults only' especially if it is in the evening
There will be no other children attending
And just politely say that you still want the adults to attend.
