Ideas for extravagent 4 day vacation?

...but off Long Island? We're looking for a long weekend mini-vacation, but somewhere off the island...any ideas?

Definitely definitely definitely BERMUDA! Look into the Elbow beach resort, it’s beautiful and it has a private beach. The Fairmont hotels are also beautiful but neither of them have beaches onsite.

If it's a long weekend type thing, you need a short flight. Fly to the Bahamas and stay at a private resort. There are 2 I HIGHLY recommend. Pink Sands on Harbour Island in the Bahamas and Compass Point on Nassau.

If you are looking for extravagance, try the Maroma Resort and Spa in the Mayan Riviera in Mexico. That's where we spent our HM and it was truly amazing. All there is to do is sit on the beach all day and read or look into your DH's eyes, then have dinner at night by the beach. There are some side tours you can do during the day, if you want. It's about a 3 1/2 hour plane trip there and they spoil you once you get to the resort.

Kathy, those places ARE amazing. Pink Sands is great for golfers...does FH golf? But, it's great even if neither of you do! Very private, and sooooooo pretty.

Compass Point is heaven on earth, I swear it. It's so small that when we were there, we were 2 of 25 people staying there the entire week. It was incredible. The staff is so nice and out of your way. The huts are outrageous. There is also a beachfront house that you can rent there. We stayed in the house on our trip, it belongs to a friend of mine, but it can be booked through Compass Point directly. It's a huge totally private house next to a private beach called Love Beach (no joke). And, you get to use the amenites from Compass Point if you stay there, so the pool, snorkling, restaurant, are all yours.

I am biased to Compass Point because it's where DH and I fell in love.
