I need advice

My aunt and uncle are friends with a judge and he will be marrying us for free. I wasn't inviting him to the wedding though. I just figured he would leave after the ceremony. Isn't that what Judges do, they don't expect to stay for the wedding do they? i just got an email from my aunt, asking if the Judges wife was invited to the wedding.

What the heck do I do? I don't know them, my fiance is going to flip when I tell him this. He already didn't want my father's friend to come, because we don't know him.

I bought the Judge a $50 bottle of wine and wine cooler bag and some wine and golf books. So he's getting a gift. Should I just invite him, do I send an invite?

I personally would find a way to invite him if I could. He is marrying you for free. Some couples are paying 500 and even 800 for their officiants, you still are saving even if he does come to the wedding and it sure would be a nice gesture. Just my 2 cents for whats its worth. good luck- Stacy

He's more than just a friend, he's the man that will be marrying you. That makes him the most important person that day, next to you and your hubby, of course.

When we got closer to our wedding date, I started to wig out over last minute expenses and such...and occassionally I lost the whole meaning of the day with to-dos and dollars.

My opinion would be to invite him, and if you can though not as important, his wife. In the end, they might not show. We invited our priest and he politely declined.

Etiquette says that you invite your officiant and his/her spouse. I read that somewhere. I just interviewed with a Judge who has three weddings after mine ( if I book him), so if your judge does weddings on a regular basis, he may be booked and won't attend your reception. But I think the invite should be extended. Good luck - Karen

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!

Adding my 2 cents

sorry brenda but I agree with the other ladies. I am paying $500 for my officiants and $650 for the site. I wish I could find a friend too legally marry us and count the $65 to $100 a plate as getting off easy.

Your presents sound very very nice..but extend the invite. Good luck!

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!

I would recommend returning the gifts and sending an invite for him and his wife as the thank you. After all you would have had a fee had you not known him. If you still want to give an additional thank you. The bottle of wine should do. This is not ordinary favor.

Our BM lives in Seattle, WA. He went to a tux shop out there, called us with the measurements, we gave the measurements to Flowerama & they ordered one for him. He arrived in town 2 days before the wedding. He was fitted, minor alterations were done in a day and looked quite dashing in time for Saturday! :)

Our cost per tux - inc. shoes, cufflinks, sales tax etc. - was $145 each. Yes, you CAN get it cheaper...But Paul really liked the staff (clearly knowledgable!) & the quality of the material....and since I spent over $1200 on my attire for the day, I figured spending another $50 to make him feel good was certainly worth it!
