Re: Which stores give you a discount for stuff off your registry once you are married?
Fortunoff, Bloomingdales and MACY'S give the 10%.My FI thinks it is ridiculous we don't get the 10% off from the beginning. We are giving them exclusive business and there should be an incentive/reward for this.
What do you think?
I also just discovered that if you buy an item on someones registry from a different store - you just call and they take it off so they won't get a duplicate. For example - lots of china and silver is discounted at outlets at Tanger or online so my mom said she may tell people to get me things there and just call Fortunoff and tell them it was already purchased elsewhere.

Oh wow...I had no idea you could call a store to let them know that items on the registry were purchased elsewhere and they'd take them off.All of my Pfaltzgraf stuff is soooooooo much cheaper in their own catalog than in Fortunoff.

That is true about the calling the store and having items removed.....my brothers purchased my crystal at the Mikasa outlet and called Macy's and took it off!Bed, Bath and Beyond will also give you cash back on anything you want to return of your reg. w/o a receipt!!! That was a huge selling point for me because I change my mind so often!

Re: Which stores give you a discount for stuff off your registry once you are married?
Vickalina...I'm registered at BBB (but we did it online), and I had no idea about the cash back thing. Thanks!Of course you can always take things off your registry if someone buys it for you elsewhere - it's the same as if you decided that you no longer want the gift and took it off your registry. And if your store offers online registries, you don't even need to call - you can just go online and remove things yourself.
Trust me, I've done it!

Re: Which stores give you a discount for stuff off your registry once you are married?
Fortunoff's does.I received a letter from them right after my wedding that said that I am entitled to a 10% discount from June 27th, 2003 (my wedding date) thru December 6, 2003.
But it's ONE DAY ONLY.

Re: Which stores give you a discount for stuff off your registry once you are married?
If you registered at Macys', after the wedding find out when the Friends & Family sale is.That sale runs anywhere from 10 to 40 percent off, you can then use your 10% off the registry as well.
So if you can go during the event to finish your
registry you save at least 20%, instead of just 10.
I dont know if Bloomies has a sale like that as well, but if you can call and ask.

Re: Which stores give you a discount for stuff off your registry once you are married?
I just want to clarify my post. Obviously we can always modify our registries but your friends and family can also by calling Fortunoff and telling them they bought the item somewhere else and it should be removed from the registry to avoid duplication. All of my Lenox stuff is cheaper at the outlets so I'm hoping people will call them and tell them to reduce the number of items I still need if they get it elsewhere.
