Re: Do you have to stay in a hotel on your wedding night?

It's not bad at all, that's what I'm doing, I'll be in my hotel on my honeymoon and we figured that there was no point since you usually have to check out at 11am. I also didn't want the worries of having a bag packed and carrying around my dress.

Re: Do you have to stay in a hotel on your wedding night?

There's nothing wrong with going home!
We are actually looking for a house and if all goes according to plan, I'll be moving in around April and our wedding night would be the first night we'd sleep there together.
But if that doesn't work out, we'll probably stay in a hotel for the change of scenery! That's the only reason. If you guys have a nice place, it's fine to stay wherever you want.

Re: Do you have to stay in a hotel on your wedding night?

That's kind of the way I feel. I mean most people leave on their honeymoon soon after teh big day so what's the point? I think it could be fun to sort of 'romanitcize? the place though. Get some special food and treats to make the night different.

Re: Do you have to stay in a hotel on your wedding night?

That's what I wanted to do but my husband insisted that we didn't. Don't get me wrong it was a gorgeous hotel but we didn't get there until 3AM because our car service was late and we had to check out by noon. I personally thought it was a bit of a waste.

Re: Do you have to stay in a hotel on your wedding night?

There is nothing wrong with going home, but there are some hotels where you don't have to check out until 2 or 3pm the next day. The Wingate in Garden City is one of them.

Re: Do you have to stay in a hotel on your wedding night?

I think it's perfectly fine to go home. That's what we're doing. We'll be able to get comfortable and hang out with our puppy, and maybe order pizza to eat by candlelight, with romantic music and great wine!

Re: Do you have to stay in a hotel on your wedding night?

I would actually prefer to go home. I can't think of a better place to spend your wedding night. I will be staying at the Garden City Hotel though and hosting a brunch for my guests that next day.

Re: Do you have to stay in a hotel on your wedding night?

We spent our wedding night at our apt. We were so tired but happy that we did so because we had stuff to bring home. We had a Post-Wedding Party the next day at MIL's house with about 50 people. We had to bring my bridal gown, our wedding cake, ring boxes, extra programs, 2 program baskets, table cameras, my purse, headpiece, bridal slip, shoes, pantyhose, etc. I could not possibly leave all these stuff at a hotel. We were also on a budget and decided to be intimate and snuggle on our wedding night at our apt. It worked out well.

Re: Do you have to stay in a hotel on your wedding night?

No not bad. I don't know how the tradition started. I guess it's just a nice touch at the end of a long day to stay at a hotel. But stay wherever you want - it doesn't matter

Re: Do you have to stay in a hotel on your wedding night?

We went home after our wedding. We had talked about staying at a hotel. But, in the end we saved money and were glad we went home. We were both so tired and slept till 4pm the next day.

Re: Do you have to stay in a hotel on your wedding night?

We went back to our home and it was the best decision we made. There was no rush to wake up early and check-out, we could relax in our own home and sleep in our own bed.

Plus, as a surprise, my bm's decorated our house with rose petals on the floor and on the bed, champagne, chocolate covered strawberries and Mr & Mrs. pillows! It was perfect!

There is nothing wrong with going home on your wedding night. I wanted to but my sisters gave us a night at the Garden City Hotel as a shower gift. Otherwise, we would've gone home!
