My mother is crazy!!

She has started the redecorating process. She is giving our house a makeover for my wedding. She is redoing the bathroom, redoing her bedroom, redoing the living room, dining room, she even put in a nicer sounding doorbell. Anyone else's parents redecorating to make the house look nicer for pics on your wedding day. I mean we just had the inside of the house redone 3 or 4 years ago. And now she is buying all new drapes and area rugs and bedspreads and shower curtains. She is spending so much money on this wedding already, I keep asking her to please relax and save some of her money for herself.

LOL My dad did this for the surprise 30th I threw my FH (at my dad's house). He actually re-did the bathroom, bought a huge stereo system - wireless speakers and all. He did a ton of other things too - I thought he was nuts but it was very sweet, all the same.

LOL! So is my mom she redid the whole downstairs ( I mean new tiles, new carpets, new drapes) so it would look nice in the pictures. Now she is going to paint the entire upstair so it will look nice in pictures. They are so crazy!!

My mom s getting a new bedroom set but wants to wait until I pick the color for my bridemaids dresses so that everything can blend in the pictures! WACKO! I mean its kind of cute but come on now lets be serious.

I fully understand!

I'm waiting til the end of winter to paint the shutters and outside trim on our tudor house for my daughter's May wedding. Thank God the stucco and bricks look good. Can't imagine what I would do otherwise. LOL.
The wedding is only one day, but the pictures will last a life-time. I still look back at my own wedding photos and can't believe the fake flowers my mother had in the living room. Thanks for the chuckle girls.

My parents did the same exact thing for my wedding....but they completely ripped part the whole house and re-did it. My poor dad did so much of the work on his own and my mom just kept giving him other things to do.

I can understand! My parents recently ripped apart the living room ( and I do mean ripped apart, there was a HUGE hole in the wall for like a week) they got an estimate to redo the kitchen (new cabinets floors etc) picked out new dining room furniture and living room furniture, new wall paper and are going to rip apart the bathroom! So the whole main floor, excluding my room is going to be in shambles.
Apparently my wedding was the incentive to redo the whole house!

I wish my dad was redoing the house. I think I"m going ot have to get cleaning ladies in there and completely clean from top to bottom. And FH and I are going to have to cut down a few bushes and trees that my dad hasn't done in a very long time.

My dad (or his wife is actually) redoing the entire downstairs. Ripped up carpeting and tile, painted, reapolstering (sp?) the furniture. New pictures, etc.

Though she is doing this for the picture and our out of town guest, I know she has been looking for an excuse to redo the house and my wedding was it!

Oh well!! It does look better...

Girls, we're not crazy. I have to agree with LIMom, the wedding is one day, but pictures last a life time. I wish that I lived closer to my daughter to be re-doing the house. I live 5 hours away and though there is distance, we have done everything together so far, except the house issues. I'm sure her dad will be updating the house for her (our) special day.

So, take it from a mom that can not do this one thing for her daughter, leave mom alone. Let her do what she wants if it makes her (and you) happy. Its the little things that make us happy and its also a good time for moms to focus on something else.

My mother did a lot of work on the house too. I thought it was crazy but it did look really good in pictures. Her living room happened to have the same colors as the BM dresses and flowers and it looked perfect, like we planned it. Its been that color for years. I didn't realize until after the proofs were back. However, what was crazy was that she put off a lot of things to work on the houser including getting her dress at the last minute. She also tried to go to get new curtain rods on the morning of the wedding. That was crazy. We literally had to take her keys. LOL
