POLL - As a guest, would you prefer a Fri or Sun night wedding?

A Saturday night is ideal, but if it isn't feasable, what is the next best option?
If you were invited to a wedding as a guest, (which I am sure ALL of you have been) which do you prefer...Fri night or Sun night?

Re: POLL - As a guest, would you prefer a Fri or Sun night wedding?

Are u thinking of a day or night wedding? Sunday night weddings are hard for guests because they often have to travel a distance. At least with a Friday wedding, they have the weekend to recover.

depends on whether i can leave work early on Friday or get to work late on monday - friday night weddings are nice because guests have time to recoup on weekend

Re: POLL - As a guest, would you prefer a Fri or Sun night wedding?

I would rather have my wedding on a sunday evening then on a friday night unless it were a long weekend only because I would not want to have time off from work and rush around to get to the wedding. Either way the people who love u and r imortant will be there even if ure wedding whereon a weds. night.

I agree with june262004. However, if Saturday is not doable for your budget or circumstances I then choose a Friday night that way the next day I can sleep in and not worry about going to work and look like a sombee.

Re: POLL - As a guest, would you prefer a Fri or Sun night wedding?

We are having ours on a Sunday rather than Friday, because we thought it would be difficult for out of state people to get there for a Friday wedding, and because a lot of people who are in town cant get off early enough to make the wedding, just the reception. At least on Sunday people have the weekend to prepare, and they can always take off on Monday if they really needed to, although it ends at 11 PM so thats not toooo late! Either way do whats best for you.

Re: POLL - As a guest, would you prefer a Fri or Sun night wedding?

I am having a Friday night wedding and I know that the people closest to me will be there and a bunch of people at work have already told me that they are going to leave early to come to the church, the reception does not start until 6pm but I think that I might change it to 7pm so that people have more time to go home and get ready and then come to the reception. I have never been to a Sunday night wedding but I think that I would like a Friday night better b/c then I have the next 2 days to recover

Re: POLL - As a guest, would you prefer a Fri or Sun night wedding?

I am a little impartial to this because I had a sunday wedding but I have to say eveb though people have work usually the next day they did have the day off all day to sleep in and relax as opposed to a friday when I personally have to rush, and usually miss half the cocktail at least. People who are gonna leave early will regardless of what day it is, people who want to stay will, they usually dont run that late anyway is 11-12 really that late?

Good luck deciding

Re: POLL - As a guest, would you prefer a Fri or Sun night wedding?

I think they both have their qualities:
JMO...
Fri: I think people have to rush from work, and have a hirer chance of missing the ceremony. (Plus with my crazy work schedule, when I was a BM I hated that I had to take off work for the wedding and leave early for the rehersal the day before).

Sunday:
unless it's a hoiday weekend, like mine is .
I think they should end a little earlier for people who have to travel home and work te next day.
I do think if the location is right, like an outside ceremony/reception an afternoon wedding would be great.

again JMO

Re: POLL - As a guest, would you prefer a Fri or Sun night wedding?

If I had a choice, a Friday night is better. But if I was invited to a Sunday night wedding I'd still go and take the next day off. Or the morning off.

Re: POLL - As a guest, would you prefer a Fri or Sun night wedding?

I got married on a Friday night, and see NOTHING wrong with it. So a few people will not attend the church, or they can take the day off.
I waould not like to attend a Sunday night wedding, because I would probably leave early.

I really prefer Friday night weddings...I have to get up at 5 am, so I never get to fully enjoy a sunday night one .

Re: POLL - As a guest, would you prefer a Fri or Sun night wedding?

I voted Sunday. My decision on a Fri night or Sun wedding for myself was based on being a guest at both.

Fri night was so chaotic. Leaving work early, getting ready (and it's not typical 'getting ready' it's a wedding and you want to look your best), getting stuck in traffic. We missed the ceremony which we would have loved to see and they were cleaning up cocktail hour by the time we got there. I was so exhausted during the reception.

It was much easier and relaxing on the Sunday and I really got a chance to enjoy the ceremony and wedding.

My wedding ends at 11pm and for 95% of the people attending, it should take no more than a 1/2 hour to get home. I don't think that's so bad. My out of towners are fully aware and plan on making it a long weekend, taking Monday off.

Re: POLL - As a guest, would you prefer a Fri or Sun night wedding?

I've never been to a Sunday wedding but I think I would prefer it over a Friday. All the Friday weddings I've been to I was a BM in so I took the entire day off. I guess as a guest for a Fri wedding I would take half a day and I would still feel rushed and probably miss the ceremony. Fri is nice because the wedding is over and you still have your weekend, but Sunday I think would be far more relaxed for me. I could get my hair done, etc. And I don't mind going to bed late before a worknight, I do every night anyway!

Thanks for all of your help.
Hmm, a sunday before a holiday is a great idea. In trying to stay with the whole winter wedding theme...Martin Luther King Jr Day is the only holiday on a monday in January...but do people have off of work that day? (I barely get any holidays off except the big ones so I have noidea!)

Re: POLL - As a guest, would you prefer a Fri or Sun night wedding?

I chose Sunday, because I have been to Friday night weddings and I always felt rushed having to leave work and hurry to get dressed and be there. On a Sunday, I can sleep late and will have plenty of time to get ready. I just wouldn't make it too late on a Sunday. I wouldn't have it go later than 11:00.

Re: POLL - As a guest, would you prefer a Fri or Sun night wedding?

I am also having my wedding on a Sunday night, because of the out of state guests and bridal party. I also know that most of the guests would miss the church on a Friday wedding because they are at work.

Re: POLL - As a guest, would you prefer a Fri or Sun night wedding?

I have been to many of both, Friday and Sunday night weddings and I would MUCH rather go to a friday night.
JMO, but as I have found from the weddings I have been to on Sunday nights...the 'party' fizzles a lot earlier than expected UNLESS a lot of people take Monday off from work.
If people are not able to do that, and a lot of people won't be, many of your guests will have to leave early. That is just a reality...

With a friday wedding, of course some people will need to leave early, but at least they can stay till the party's over....ya know?

Ultimately, it's what you feel most comfortable doing, remember the wedding is, of course, for you and FH...but IMO, a friday night is better.
