for anyone getting married at catholic church

What are y'all doing for the music at your ceremony? I want something beautiful. I'm sure the church has a organist but what are some other options?

Re: for anyone getting married at catholic church

Are you getting married at the St. Patrick's in Huntington? (I looked at your profile!) I just went to a wedding there this past weekend and it was AMAZING. They had the organist & a singer. Both were beautiful and the church is gorgeous!!! You don't need much more than that!

Re: for anyone getting married at catholic church

I am getting married in a Catholic church and we are having an organist and singer of choir, have not decided yet.
You can always do a string quartet or harp or something like that.

Re: for anyone getting married at catholic church

We are getting married at St. Patrick's in Smithtown. I see your having your reception at the Bellport Country Club, we live up the road from there. It is a beatiful place. I know a singer with a traditional organ should be fine, I just wondered what other options there are. Thanks!

Re: for anyone getting married at catholic church

We had a string trio and the sound filled the church beautifully.

Re: for anyone getting married at catholic church

See if your church has a handbell choir. They are beautiful and so different.

We are having handbells. I've played handbells for almost 10 years and wouldn't get married without them.

Re: for anyone getting married at catholic church

We are getting married in a Catholic church and even if we bring in our own music we still have to pay for their people. Just make sure something like that can't happen to you as well (If you don't go with the 'house people') I have also heard from other girls that adding the trumpeters for when you arrive and leave was a great touch!

This was true for us too, so I didn't even consider hiring outside musicians.

Re: for anyone getting married at catholic church

We're using the church organist and cantor, and adding a trumpet. I love the sound of horns in church!

Re: for anyone getting married at catholic church

We are using the church organist for the bridal procession, and the church is allowing me to have a DJ do the rest of the music, which I wanted to be a little different.

Re: for anyone getting married at catholic church

We had the church singer and organist, but had a good friend of mine do the song during the unity candle lighting, which was definately the highlight of the ceremony. most churches allow you to have an alternative to thier organ/singer, but you still have to pay the organist/singer anyway because they have a contract with the church and also because they act as 'coordinators' on the day of the wedding. I know that our singer was the one who told us all when to start down the aisle and made sure we were all doing what we should be doing.
