Re: for those who are already homeowners QUESTIONS....
Water will be your cheapest bill by far. Well under $100.Phone varies depending on the plan you get. We are probably switching to Vonage the internet phone thing soon so we can keep bills consistent at about $35 per month. Right now its closer to $60
We have gas heat so I cant comment on oil.
Cable is the bill I hate the most because I feel like we have the most basic plan, plus a cable modem and its still around $100.
FH handles most of our bills so I cant say exactly, but I hope this is a start! Good luck!!

Depending on where you live, water can be a very expensive bill! We pay triple in our new house then where we used to live!

Re: for those who are already homeowners QUESTIONS....
So much depends on the size of house, whether you have central air, etc. For electric, anywhere from $100 to $400 per month. When you are interested in a house, don't be afraid to ask the seller to see the bills to get an idea.So many people don't take these things into consideration when buying a house, then they end up at my office (bankruptcy attorney).

Re: for those who are already homeowners QUESTIONS....
I take care of the bills at my mom's house. it's the first floor of a 2 family. I think the elec bills include the basement and hallwayshow much roughly is
electric $90 winter $330 last month!
cable $140 including internet and premiums
oil - we use gas, I think on a budget it's $250 a month...but that's for the whole 2 family house
phone $80 for unlimited local, regional and long distance
water - We just got a bill for about $1000 for 3 months, but again that's for the entire 2 family house with 4 people living here and we do laundry here, etc
Don't forget
rangetop gas bill; this si about$25 a month for us
taxes and homeowner's insurance if it's not rollwed over into your mortgage

Re: for those who are already homeowners QUESTIONS....
it all depends on the size of the house & what you are using....Water - Cheapest bill around $30 (every 3 months)
Oil - Just as bad a gas prices..We just filled up 202 gallons @ $2.15 which was a pleasant $453 bill
Electric - Depends, ours tends to be higher in the summer due to CAC (haven't gotten our first bill yet)
Phones - At least $50 a month but we are using our cell phones so we haven't installed the line yet
Cable/Satellite - We have directv so it is higher

Re: for those who are already homeowners QUESTIONS....
There are extra expenses to consider as well.Landscaper
Alarm (monthly fees, annual inspection fee and fee for any service trips re: repairs)
Fire department yearly donation - they track you down.
Potential holiday tip for postman and sanitation.
..
Much more expensive than being a tenant, but the tax benefits help in the end.
..
I bought a house on my own 2 yrs ago this week. It is tricky to pay a mortgage and a wedding at the same time - but the market seems to have flattened off. Plan for the closing costs!
Good luck!!!!

We live in FL (I grew up on LI & that's where my wedding is)...so I don't know how much this will help but....we own a townhouse:electric- last bill was $170 (we are convinced something is wrong because this is an outragous price!! We are having someone come to the house to look)
cable- $45 or so
oil- don't have oil here
phone-$45 (inlcudes basic line, no long distance, also includes our internet)
water- included in our monthly maintance cost
Also, don't forgot home insurance which is $200/year for us.
