My ceremony is at 2:30 and our CH starts at 7pm. We are going to take pics after the ceremony.

Re: Friday Night Weddings

depends...do you mind missing your cocktail hour? What town is your ceremony in? Reception? I would change it to 5:30...figure it is over by 6, and then CH is at 7...gives u an hour to take pics before the reception, and if you need an extra half hour, you will still make it for half the cocktail hour....

Re: Friday Night Weddings

I am have same times but I am taking pics before... If I was you I would add an extra half hour to the cocktail hour... that will give you 1 1/2 hours to take pics during the cocktail hour. I think a 2 hour cocktail hour would be too long htough.

Re: Friday Night Weddings

I have a 6:00 invite, 6:30 ceremony, 7:00 - 8:00 CH, and 8:00 - 12:00 reception, but I am taking my pics before my ceremony. I think a half hour is cutting it close for you especially to take pics. However, if you do not mnid missing your ch, then it should be fine.
My FH calls the CH happyhour - he thinks its the best part -so missing it was not an option. Hope that helps

Re: Friday Night Weddings

My ceremony is at 5:30 and the cocktail hour is at 7:00. I didn't want too much time in between. Each place varies with the added hour. Do you want the extra hour for Viennese? My hall charges $16 pp extra for that.

Re: Friday Night Weddings

The ceremony and reception are both at the hall (WM) and I am afraid I am going to be too rushed. My ceremony might be closer to an hour long? Is that normal?

I think I might change my ceremony to 5:30 and so at least I can take pics afterwards for about 30-45 minutes and then let my wedding party enjoy the CH while one of my BM gets my FH and I some food ! LOL. I probably won't even eat..my nerves will be shot. I'd definitely like a martini though at my CH :)

Thanks for all the replies. U guys are great

Re: Friday Night Weddings

my ceremony is in a church at 3:30, we are taking pics afterward, not sure where yet though. our CH starts at 7, we did add the extra hour, along w/ the viennese hr, and it was $12++ more pp for the two! There was no way we were missing the CH, that is the best part!!!

Re: Friday Night Weddings

Oh sorry, I misread. If you are getting married at the hall that changes everything. I think make it a little earlier so that you have more time, but you can pull it off without the extra time too as long as you don't mind missing your CH.

Re: Friday Night Weddings

Mine is kinda spread apart! My ceremony is at the church where I grew up, in Ronkonkoma at 5:30pm, but then the CH doesn't start in Westbury till 8:30. It will leave for some picture time, and gives enough time for people to change before the party if they want. At first I was a little worried about the time difference, but it was all that we could get!

Re: Friday Night Weddings

First I wanted to say Congrats to another Westbury Manor bride! :) It will be beautiful in Nov! What room are you using??? My ch begins at 8:30! Later than I want, but we can't start earlier cause of a wedding before us. My church is at 5pm and we should be leaving there by 6 and getting to WB by 6:30 (if all goes well) That way we have about 2 hours to take our pics and can enjoy ch.

Since you are having the ceremony at WM 1/2 in between is ok. Also you have to decide if you want your pictures taken during the ch. My cousin did that last yr and she didn't like it because people kept coming and talking to her while she was getting her pics taken. Also she missed her whole cocktail hour. It just depends on what you and your fh want. Hope this helps. FM me if you want to talk more. :)

Re: Friday Night Weddings

Because I am having my ceremony at the hall that helps me out time wise..u know? I don't have to travel from church to reception. We don't mind missing half the CH, as long as my FH gets some dibs on the seafood boat..we're good. That's the only thing I think he cares about as far as the CH...We'll mingle after pics...

Re: Friday Night Weddings

i got married at 2:30 and the cocktail hour started at seven thirty so i had a huge gap also but most of the people invited didnt come to the church anyway because it was a friday and we had to be at cb at 6 to start taking pictures and by the time we took pics at church and drove from queens to long island we made it with like 20 mins to spare.

Re: Friday Night Weddings

I am getting married at hall and on a Friday night.
My ceremony starts at 6:30, CH at 7:00 and reception @8:00to12

However we are taking some pics before ceremony and the rest during the CH.
My advice to you would be to get all as many pics done before hand and have as little as posible done during CH.

We are doing pics beforehand so this probably won't help but our ceremony is 6:30, CH at 7pm then reception is from 8-12 midnight
