Question about the pill?

I haven't been on the pill in years. I recently went back on to regulate my period, and so that I wouldn't have it for my wedding or HM. I just started it almost a month ago. My question is this....With my wedding April 1, do I start skipping my period now, or should I wait till next month? Or, do I just take it normally until before my wedding, and then try and skip my period by continuing right to the next cycle of pills? Does this make sense?

I'm just curious, b/c I don't want to spot during the wedding or HM, so I wasn't sure if it was better to stop skipping my period early or not.

Sorry to be so blunt! Thanks for the help!

Re: Question about the pill?

normally until the pack before your wedding.. .when those pills run out, go right to the next, instead of the sugar pills. I would suggest only skipping one month at a time.

This is exactly what I did once and it worked perfectly...no problems.

Re: Question about the pill?

I skipped mine 2 or 3 months ago. But I ended up having my period for 3 weeks. It's back on schedule now...and I think it will ending right around my wedding - I was really concerned about having it on the honeymoon - because the way my cycle works I would have been getting it while we were on the way to Hawaii and I just did not want to deal with that on a 12 hour plane ride. I might skip again next month so I won't have to worry about it all for the wedding OR the honeymoon - FH will just have to deal with my PMS towards the end of the HM.

Re: Question about the pill?

I would try to do it either this month or next...you don't want to chance doing it the month of your wedding just incase it does not work successfully..

I figured out that I was going to have mine for the wedding, so I skipped it 2 months ago & now I am on schedule to have it the week before

Re: Question about the pill?

well, it depends on when your period is going to be before the wedding- if it starts the end of feb, then you take the next pack, skip the placebos in that pack and start the new pack right away, so you are taking the pills with the actual hormones every day.
I take seasonale, so I do this for three months at a time, and get my period every three months. No problems at all, its great! But it figured I would be getting my period the week of the wedding!! What are the chances?

Re: Question about the pill?

Theres always depo-provera.. you can go on it for 3-6 months before your wedding to ensure you won't have any period at all... its the miracle drug!

Re: Question about the pill?

I skipped mine for my wedding, I was due to get it on a friday and my wedding was sunday. So when I finished the pack of pills for October, I skipped the placebo week and started right on the next pack of pills and it worked fine. I skipped my period for the month of November. The only side effect to that was the following month I had my period for a day longer than I normally would have.

Re: Question about the pill?

i would consult with my doctor about this. there may be other matters involved that we cannot answer. unless someone here's a licensed gyno doctor.

Re: Question about the pill?

If it was me I wouldn't wait until the one right before my wedding. The two times I have gone straight to the next pack of pills, I've spotted the entire month following. I'm planning on doing it a month or so before my wedding. HTH

Re: Question about the pill?

Consult with your doctor. But since you just started you may spot after the first cycle.

Re: Question about the pill?

I've been on the pill for years. I don't know why but the thought of skipping my period makes me nervous. A couple of my friends have done this and then have gotten spotting or their period for like two weeks. I don't know what I'll do when my time comes.

Yeah I am one of those girls! I skipped the sugar pills and I spotted for the entire month! It was bad! It works for most people I guess I am the small percentage. Good luck! I hope it works for you..I would try doing it now thought to see how your body reacts.

I was on that for a while, but stopped due to severe clotting.Check with your GYN about the risks and side effects as with anything else.

Re: Question about the pill?

Yes, see your gyno.

It all depends on the type of pill you are on. With some pills (the ones with the same hormone levels throughout like a orthocyclin)(sp?) you can easily move from pack to pack skipping the sugar pills. However, with pills with varying hormone levels through the month (like a triphasal) skipping CAN cause spotting- for some.

Talk to your doctor he will tell you exactly what's right for you.
