Ideally once I get licensed I can work from home and set my own schedule. That's the plan anyway.

i don't think i could do it ... i'd get very bored at home all the time without any social interaction or whatnot during the day.

i would prob still want at least a part time job ...

but it would be nice not to have to work

Agreed - I would need something part time!

Re: can you see yourself as a full-time, at home mom and wife?

I don't think I could be a stay-at home mom. I would probably go NUTS being at home all day and just running errands for me and the family. I'd be ok with working part-time but the union I am in doesn't allow for part-time work, you have to be full time. The good thing is though, normal hours are 7AM-3PM so when they kids go to school it's pretty much the same hours. I can always 'shelf my card' for a couple of years and then go back to work. My jobsite isn't supposed to end until 2013 so HOPEFULLY I'll be able to just take some time off when this job ends until the kids are in school (we won't be starting a family until 2nd half of 2012 AT LEAST!)

I'd love to be one! If DH made enough money, I would. I know I would need a break from my kids here and there, but I wouldn't want to miss out on anything!

I dont think I can see myself as a full time SAHM... but yet I envy people who are. I think I wish I just had the option... or knew I could find a cool attorney job and still have time/money/etc for kids.

Re: can you see yourself as a full-time, at home mom and wife?

honestly, i try not to think about this too much because i know that dh and i could never afford it, not tleast living in ny but lets just say we could, i could see being a stay at home mom i think but not a wife...meaning without kids. i cant even stand more than 1 day alone at home

Re: can you see yourself as a full-time, at home mom and wife?

No way...I like going out and feeling like I'm doing something important with my time. Plus I hate cleaning!

The most I'd want to do is work part-time...but even then I don't think so.

Re: can you see yourself as a full-time, at home mom and wife?

YES!!! I was for many years until I got divorced. Before I had kids I always said no way, I would have to keep working. But once you have that little baby your entire life changes as does your outlook on everything. Once I got divorced I had to go back to work and it was so hard. I have worked every since. I would love to be able to stay home with them still, but they are no longer 'little' so it seems silly to just sit home alone all day while they are in school.

I don't think I could ever be a complete SAHM. I would need to at least work part time to keep my sanity

my thoughts exactly. maybe i could do it for the first year but then i would want part time work just to get out of the house and socialize

Re: can you see yourself as a full-time, at home mom and wife?

Not only can I see myself that way, but everyone around me sees it that way too. We are TTC and getting things in financial order so that we will be able to acheive this.
I have no desire to work outside of the home. I love taking care of our house and my family.

Re: can you see yourself as a full-time, at home mom and wife?

I would def want to stay at home for as long as I can, I don't know, I guess I'll see how I feel, maybe I might start getting really bored at home! One of my bridesmaids was very very career- driven in her early 20's and now she's a stay at home mom & loves it.

Re: can you see yourself as a full-time, at home mom and wife?

Yes, absolutely, especially the first few years. It breaks my heart to hear all my friends have to juggle their kids from one baby sitter to another. My best friend has 5 different baby sitters for her 3 month old son.

ITA. I would like to continue to work in a few months/the next year. I want to keep my degrees worth the money I spent for them!
