Canon Rebel People

My sister has a rebel and she loves it, but she doesn't have any really cool lenses, just the ones that came with the camera.

I want to get her one or two nice lenses for her birthday/graduation.

Recommendations?

Thanks!!

Re: Canon Rebel People

I have a Nikon, but these are the additional lenses I have outside of the 18-55mm that came with it...

Re: Canon Rebel People

How much are you willing to spend?

The Canon 50mm brand lens is about $100 usually and is a 'must' for people who want to start photography projects (there's no zoom though so it's not an everyday lens)

I have a Sigma 18-200mm lens which i LOVE ... it's an everyday lens and is good for close-up photos as well as zoomed in ones. It's about $300. Oh, note it's not a canon brand so it's not AS good but the Canon 18-200 lens is twice as expensive. And for me (an completely amateur photographer), i don't see any difference in quality

Re: Canon Rebel People

ps: how about also getting her add-ons such as:

-- uv lens (which is a must, IMO ... it prevents the lens from getting scratched ... make sure you buy the right size ... the lens that came with the canon is 58mm, i believe)
-- camera bag
-- lens cleaning kit
-- tripod
-- remote control (to set off the shutter from afar)
-- large memory card (at least 16gb)

just a warning about that - there's no Image Stabilization there ... you really want the IS, especially for zoomed in shots, or your photos may come out blurry
