Re: omg is anyone else working downtown?
I work on Water Street - 2 blocks down from where some people are protesting and it's a HUGE mess down here. There were 7 cops standing by the turn style getting out of the subway this AM. Whole intersection of Wall & Williams is barricaded off. Saw a ton of mounted officers by the Fed Reserve Building. Had to fight my way through crowds of media, on lookers & protestors to get to work. These protesters really pissed me off this morning!

Re: omg is anyone else working downtown?
i work in midtown so thank god i don't have to deal with this, but enoughis enough - this is out of hand now.i understand that everyone is entitled to free speech, but they are not entitled to destroy public property and not let others enjoy said public property.
Just because you don't have a job and are struggling like millions of others, does not mean you can camp out in a public park and 'live' there until you feel your opinions are heard.
You should, however, be allowed to behave in a orderly manner and not obstruct public walkways and disrupt ever day traffic and to do so during normal business hours.
However, it is unfair to do so after hours as there are private residents who do live in the area and are not allowed the peace they diserve in their own homes due to this situation.
This is my own two cents. and JMO

They are 'occupying' transportation hubs to get the message out. You should look at the locations of these places too.

Re: omg is anyone else working downtown?
This is what I just sent out to our office:The Occupy Wall Street (OWS) movement has designated Thursday, November 17, 2011 as a “national day of action” to commemorate the two-month anniversary since the movement began.
1WFC will be open all day tomorrow as regularly scheduled. The planned OWS activities are spread throughout the day and the city, which may impact our commutes and ability to get to outside appointments. Please be sure to plan accordingly and allow extra time to get where you need to go.
The schedule of OWS events is as follows:
Step 1: Shut Down Wall Street - 7:00 a.m. – 12 noon
Step 2: Occupy The Subways - 3:00 p.m. Protestors will occupy subway stations throughout the five boroughs as follows:
· Bronx: Fordham Rd; 3rd Ave, 138th Street; 163rd and Southern Blvd; 161st and River - Yankee Stadium
· Brooklyn: Broadway Junction; Borough Hall; 301 Grove Street; St Jose Patron Church,185 Suydam St, Bushwick
· Queens: Jackson Heights/Roosevelt Ave., Jamaica Center/Parsons/Archer; 92-10 Roosevelt Avenue, Jackson Heights
· Manhattan: 125th St. A,B,C,D; Union Sq. (Mass student strike); 23rd St and 8th Ave
· Staten Island: St. George, Staten Island Ferry Terminal; 479 Port Richmond Avenue, Port Richmond
Step 3: Take The Square - 5:00 p.m. Protestors will gather at Foley Square (between Worth St., Centre St., & Lafayette St., and surrounded by the City’s major courthouses). A gospel choir and a marching band will also be performing. Afterwards they will march to various bridges.
More information about the planned activities can be found at http://occupywallst.org/action/november-17th/.
