Many have the tendancy to let china and their silver or gold-plated flatware sit until needed for a special meal. However, china is quite durable, can be microwaved, and even dishwashed. A good way to keep your flatware shiny is to use it. Just make sure you wash the flatware in a non-lemon on-acidic dish soap by hand after using it.
