Fairy Tale: Your Event in a Gold Coast Mansion
By Vincent Savino
New York Institute
of Technology's (NYIT) de Seversky Center takes a page out of
The Great Gatsby for couples dreaming of a wedding of F. Scott
Fitzgerald proportions. One of the few existing Gold Coast-era
mansions open for public catering, NYIT's de Seversky Center is
situated on 100 acres of picturesque landscape in Old Westbury,
N.Y.
The de Seversky
Center's executive chef Robert Rizzuto and dining room manager
Pilar Visconti coordinate all details and special requests to
create the perfect fairy tale mansion wedding. "The staff at de
Seversky took care of everything," said Peg and Chris, who were
wed during this past summer. "The food was great and the service
impeccable. Our wedding exceeded all of our expectations and our
guests are still saying it was the best wedding they have ever
been to."
Prospective
brides and grooms can select an elaborate mansion-style event
(accommodating up to 200 guests), which utilizes all of the mansion's
elegant rooms in a cocktail party atmosphere, or a more traditional
seated up to 200 persons "with only the finest foods and beverages
served. "We try to offer flexibility," said Chef Rizzuto. "We
only do one wedding per day, so it's as if it really is your mansion
for the day."
