Any ideas on what to throw when leaving the Church?

Although bubbles are a pretty idea, I have been to a bunch of weddings that had bubbles, and it never comes out as expected. Does anyone do the 'traditional' birdseed anymore? Or is it mainly rose petals? What is everyone using. . .any ideas?

We weren't allowed rice at our church, and we could do birdseed, but we decided not to for a couple of reasons. first, I just didn't like the idea of being pelted with birdseed. Second, my friend was married at the same church and they did use birdseed and she told me that through the whole reception she could feel the birdseed in her dress. We did bubbles.

I had one guest throw birdseed anyway and guess what? It went down my dress, grrrr. And I didn't get it out until we were at the hotel afterwards. I can't imagine that times about 50.

FH and I will be releasing doves, but our party, and everyone else will be tossing rose petals

We did rose petals!

We used the birdseed and it did go everywhere, including down my dress but you know what, we didn't care! It was a blast! And it was more fun having my husband brush it off on our wedding night!!

My family is throwing rocks. Just kidding. We aren't even getting married at a church. But I think rose petals are the best idea.

We are doing both rose petals and bubbles...I am not really sure whether we're 'allowed' to throw rose petals at my church, but I figure they'll just fine me afterward if I can't.

Are you going to ask the church before? I want to throw petals too. Maybe I not say a thing. I am afraid to ask.

I think its on an individual basis...is there one church you had in mind???

We aren't allowed to throw rose pedals, but honestly my church won't allow you do to anything! There is a list of 'things that are not allowed!' I'm having them, what can they say to us at the end, I know people that used them.

I am actually not going to ask the church before. The list of things we 'can't' do includes throwing flowers inside the church, but it doesn't say anything about outside. I figure if I don't ask, they can't say 'no'.

at my cousins recent wedding they threw heart shaped bird food, white in color, although there was a mixup and whether it was edible or not because it smelled like mints and people were eating them, but yet we were told it was bird food. the only downfall was that the big ants were carrying it around!!

I love the bells, what cute idea. We are getting married at the temple and our Rabbi is letting us throw rose petals. IT was the only thing we asked for.

I am sure my church has a list like that...just haven't heard about it yet

My church told us that we couldn't throw rose petals, rice or birdseed. I don't like bubbles either because (like someone else said) they never seem to work out right. We are actually going to throw petals anyway. I figure, by that point we're already married- what can they do? Also, someone else I know got married at this same church. He had everyone throw petals and nothing was said to him.

The rose petal pictures look so pretty.... never thought of that idea, but I love it!

Thanks ladies. The rose petal pictures did look beautiful. I think that petals are the prettiest and best bet. I also love the riniging of the bells idea!! My church is fine with the rose petals being thrown, as long as they are not thrown inside. But, I hope that the flower girls will be able to put the rose petals on the floor where we walk, as long as they don't toss them around.

my moh had pieces of red/pink candy like confetti, im thinking of that too but i cant find it anywhere...didnt get stuck in the hair like birdseed does...i like the rose petal idea too but isnt that expensive??? im not sure what im doing either...good luck!!
