Re: Are you taking your FH's last name?

Im changing it.. I was on the fence, but this one thing he is so adament about. My father is the only son and he had two daughters, so this is the end of the road for our last name.

But since FH always does his best to make me happy, I will do the ultimate sacrifice and lose my name.

Re: Are you taking your FH's last name?

I'm taking his name! It's so much easier to spell and pronounce, I can't wait to be Mrs. M!! I'm a traditionalist, so I've always pictured myself taking my FH's name. I would always pair my 1st name with the last name of the boy I liked in school to hear how they sounded together.

Plus FH's ex-wife kept her married name bc she wanted to have the same name as their daughter. Don't know what she's planning on now that she's getting remarried, but I DEF want his name if she still has it!!

Re: Are you taking your FH's last name?

I always thought I would and FH really wants me to. I have no problem with it. I might move my maiden name to be my middle name since I don't have one. I've always wanted a middle intial!

Re: Are you taking your FH's last name?

Yes! His is so much easier (not that mine is really difficult) but I am so tired of my entire name being butchered by people.

After I take his name, it's so easy, they can only continue to butcher my first name instead of both!!

Re: Are you taking your FH's last name?

we've been married almost 7 months, and i havent' changed it.... its not that i'm super feminist or anything like that... his last name just sounds REALLY bad with my first name... theres a lot of S's and L's... it really is a tongue twister!! people have asked me why i didn't change it, i tell them, and when they say the 2 names together, they understand- LOL...
i will probably change it when/before we have kids, just because i know how confusing it can get ( i work at a school and constantly hear ' well, his moms last name is...') but for now, i'm keeping my last name, and he has no problem with it - he just would just like me to change it before we have kids....

Re: Are you taking your FH's last name?

I am changing my name and I'm very excited because my last name now is SO long and his is short, easy to spell, and say!!!! I'm going from 9 letters to 5!!! I've been plagued my whole life with a difficult last name, it could be worse, but I never liked it and I really lucked out with his last name!! YAY!!

Changing it, I babysit for a woman who hyphenated it, and the childrens too, but the school just ended up calling the kids by the husbands last name anyway

Re: Are you taking your FH's last name?

i will but in a few years. i think what i may do is change it on my license and social security, but i dont know about my passport. i still have 3 more years left on it and my visa will be on it, so changing it is reallly a hassle, especially if you arent in the country.
