UPDATE

First, foremost and AGAIN, I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your support.

My sister who is with Mom now will stay with her until the end of the week. I am flying down to Dallas on Friday and will stay with Mom through Monday evening returning to NY late Monday night.

Her spirits are OK I guess. She knows she cannot be moved until and unless her surgery is done and she does not have to worry about severing her spine. It seems likely that she will not be able to withstand walking down the aisle but at this point, I just want her there. It doesn't matter. I need to see her face and have her blessing. I already lost one parent this year and I won't lose a second. She just needs to be there. My siblings are all from the same school of thought. The wedding will go on no matter what. It is what the entire family wants.

Please forgive me for being philosophical, but in light of the crappy events of 2005 in my little world, that after having read all of the posts from the 05ers to us about sweating the small stuff, I just wanted to say, THEY ARE RIGHT. I am in the middle of BIG STUFF ! The likes of which, only few of you (by the grace of G-d) know about at these stages of your lives. And the rest of you should NEVER have to know.

So your dresses don't match the invites - so what.

So your MOH wants to dye her hair pink - so what.

So your FMIL wants to wear white (OK this one you can bit*h about - I'll give you THAT one).

So your FH wants a LAP DANCE from a dancer with double D's - LET HIM HAVE IT!

Basically, what I am trying to say is it can and does get worse than those things I just mentioned. I am living proof of that. Pick and choose your battles with the ones that matter.

I couldn't imagine what this must be like for you right now. I hope that your sister and friends are able to help you with the details as best as possible. I hope that your mom is okay and that you're surrounded by support and love right now. You'll be in my thoughts.

Thanks. My friends are really coming through for me. Even people here on LIW are offering time. It is also times like these that I am so grateful for being one of 4 kids. We have been broken this year. The thing is we have so many GOOD things to look forward to, that everytime we think we pass a hurdle and get ready to have some joy, another one comes to replace it. I suppose I can seek comfort in knowing that if my parents didn't do such a damn good job with us, we wouldn't have the knowledge necessary to take care of each other.

WOw Leslie. I am sitting here in tears. I had no idea how bad your moms situation was until tonight. I hope the best for her and your family. All the best of my prayers and wishes for a HEALTHY and speedy recovery!!!
