Re: Brides that Smoke??
I am a big smoker and I didnt know how I was going to get through the day without a cigarette but this is the one thing my mother begged me not to do..nothing worse than seeing a beautiful bride with a smoke in her hand..her words..To be honest, I was so busy that I didnt even miss it much. I had one in the limo with my husband on the way to the reception hall and then didnt have another till it was just us in the bridal suite.
As the night went on I think I smoked one in the reception at my coworkers table but when the camera came towards me I put it out quickly..I didnt miss it much though cause so much was going on!

Re: Brides that Smoke??
I agree- brides with a cigarette look terrible. I used to work in a catering hall years ago and I always remember thinking that.I smoke, but I didn't smoke in front of anyone that day.
I snuck a few with dh during the reception in the bathroom. You are so busy you dont really miss it. I thought it was going to be a huge problem, but it wasn't.

Re: Brides that Smoke??
I made a promise to myself that I would not smoke on my wedding day. And I plan to stick to it. I know that I want children in the near future, so I know its time to quit. I said I would quit after the wedding. So, I guess there is no better time for a new beginning than on my wedding day. New husband, new name, new me!!!

Re: Brides that Smoke??
I smoke as well and I am really worried about how I am going to get through the day. I am more of a social smoker but when I am nervous I will more than likely reach for a cig. I do agree that there probably won't be much time for it anyway!!!

I smoke too and I agree...It looks ugly. Thus, I won't be smoking that day. Ideally, I'd like to be smoke free by then.

Re: Brides that Smoke??
I am smoker also, and have tried to make a promise to myself to be smoke free by my wedding in November. My FH smokes like a chimney so it is so hard to stop, but I have to find my will power somewhere. But on my wedding day I vow NOT to have a cig. at all. I was a the Jericho Terrace over the summer for a wedding and saw another bride that was getting married there smoking and it truly looked horrible. I am sure she did not intend for that, but I just think for one day you should be able to put them away. JMO.

I will not be having beer in a bottle for this reason also..I think it looks ugly. The beer will be poured in a glass..

Re: Brides that Smoke??
I also smoke and agree that it is not attractive to see a bride smoking. I hope that I will just be so busy that day that I won't really think about it. If I really must, I will sneak one or two but I won't do it in front of anyone. Ugh. Just the thought of it! You know how you stink just after you have a cigarette? Imagine people running up to you and hugging you!!!
I don't want to be an ashtray smelling bride!

I smoke too. I agree tho it would look awful! So I will also try to not smoke that day, or sneak a puff or to from my FH, although not in front of anyone!

Re: Brides that Smoke??
I am on both sides of the fence. I don't want to smell like an ashtray on that day, or burn my dress or the veil, but I know that the combination of nerves and drinks that day will work against me.And I don't think people will be snickering. All the people that know me will be there, and they know I smoke.
I will avoid showing up in pics with one though. Maybe something to tell my photographer??? Hmm...

Re: Brides that Smoke??
I am a light smoker, but have been weening myself off of them, but besides looking really gross, the smell is very bad to be stinking like a dirty ashtray the day of your wedding. Even though you can spray perfume and brush your teeth, non smokers and your husband will still be able to smell it and taste it when he kisses you. and your going to be hugging your guests and they will be able to smell it too. Smokers can't seem to smell themselves, but non smokers can.

I don't smoke, but for those who do, aren't you or weren't you afraid of it falling on your dress and burning a hole?
Maybe I'm just being stupid, but that would be a fear of mine if I were a smoker.
