Re: Catering Hall Recommendations

I am getting married at Land's End in Sayville. It is so beautiful-right on the water. I have heard really great things about Russo's on the Bay--heard the food there was outstanding. Good luck!

Re: Catering Hall Recommendations

I'm getting married at Russo's on the Bay and whenever I tell people their eyes light up and they say 'OMG the food is SOOO good!'. I love the rooms too, and the service is impeccable!

My friend just got married at Windows on the Lake and I loved the location, the room and the food. It's definitely worth checking out!

Re: Catering Hall Recommendations

I know its not a common place to have a wedding reception but we are having ours at The Holiday Inn in Ronkonkoma, and I cant wait!! Absolutley the best price and you get to stay at the honeymoon suite for free that night of the wedding and they will take you the next morning to the airport if you need to.

Re: Catering Hall Recommendations

I've been to four weddings so far this year. Two have been at Villa Lombardi's, A++; one was at the Brentwood Country Club, C, they ran out of food during the cocktail hour and didn't replenish, big NO NO; and the other was Windows on the Lake, C+, they had two weddings starting at the same time, parking was a nightmare, entering was confusing we didn't know which wedding was where, but once the reception started, the food and service was pretty good.

I'm a professional event planner and have used Crest Hollow which is very good but a bit of a wedding factory that uses a cookie cutter for each wedding. I've also worked with Fox Hollow, Awesome service, food, atmoshpere, I highly recommend them!! I like going there for dinner.

Re: Catering Hall Recommendations

Thank you for all your responses today!!! I went looking at two places today. We went to Fox Hollow and I liked the place... I didn't like the person I dealt with. I felt like he was really pushing to sell the place to me. Secondly, we went to the Sandcastle in Queens. That was a nice place as well but I really don't know of anyone who has had their wedding reception there. Any comments on the Sandcastle?

P.S. - I will be looking at Russo's on the Bay tomorrow...

Re: Catering Hall Recommendations

You may also want to try the Woodbury Country Club. I'm biased because I'm getting married there, but there's just something different about it than a lot of the other places that we looked at that drew us to it. It's also not as common for weddings, so it's a little unique for many guests.

Good luck!

Re: Catering Hall Recommendations

once again, a reminder that if you don't have anything nice to say - don't say it at all (on the boards). That's what FM is for. It doesn't help brides to hear that the place they are spending thousands on has bad food, or a bad set up or whatever....

I agree that it is good to inform people what you didn't like but do it via FM....

Re: Catering Hall Recommendations

We debated between the Westbury manor and Russo's on the Bay. Although we chose WM (beautiful room and grounds and excellent food), we also loved Russo's due to their outstanding food and service. Good Luck and FM me if you have any questions on these two places!

Re: Catering Hall Recommendations

I was married at the CORAL house and maybe I am biased but the food was GOOD

I also heard before I booked it how good it was from many who went to weddings there, and at my tasting, my family & us LOVEd the food

Russos food is YUMMY! My MOH was married there.

Future MrsTC said it best about FM (try not to hurt someone) else.
