My parents have always danced to Stairway to heaven, and actually wanted to walk down the aisle to the opening chords until FH nixed that idea. Said he wants to hear here comes the bride when I walk down the aisle because that's how he's pictured it. Can't deny him that.
Wish my father and I had a song. Closest thing is Mamma Mia by Abba. Used to swing me around to that when I was really young. Just not a father daughter dance type of songWas actually going to see if i could have a 'family' song where me, my brothers and my parents all got up and danced to it. Those were some of the best memories...dancing to abba like lunatics then rocking out to Jethro Tull after.
Will have to check out all of these ideas from everyone when I get home. Thanks!!!!!!
Thank You, by Zeppelin? The words are actually better for first dance (it's ours) but, it can apply to a Father's love for a daughter, vice versa, and the big Thank Yoy you want to give him . . . .
You and I seem to like the same music, and had similar upbringings with the music played in our house. Your post really seemed like you'd been in our living room. My dad and I danced to a Jimmy Cliff song alot, but Mom and I cleaned (or she did, and I followed her) dancing to Abba and Creedence, while my brother, a rock musician played Zeppelin, Sabbath and Jethro Tull.
do it! Thank you is an awesome song!
I would use it, but I'm the only rock fan at my wedding lol

After talking to my mom and doing more internet research, I see that Thank You by Led Zeppelin has been used by others for the father daughter dance. Think I may have to overrule the FH on this one. Going to make up a CD with a bunch of songs and give it to my dad for final say.Would love to hear other suggestions as well! Saw on another site someone recommended Little Wing by Hendrix. Great song. FH and I are going to be dancing to his song May This be Love.
