we did not have a party and 1/2 a room filled with gifts....

before i even planned my engagement party, we received some gifts and checks from family members. it was so thoughtful of them!

we didn't do an engagement party...my family is all over the place, too hard to get them together!! but we still got some nice gifts...engraved toasting flutes, an outdoor set of dishes for bbqing....other fun stuff!!!

wow this topic is so depressing.... :(

i just called up my fiance to tell him about this post and how many people got engagement gifts. he reminded me that his mom and his grandma had bought us a gift, but when we never ended up having an engagement party, they returned them! .... i guess the only way we would get a gift from our own parents is if we pay for them to eat at our party!

I've gotten about 8 gifts and a number of cards but I know what you mean because I didn't get even a card from some people I would have expected them from. I'm particularly annoyed at one friend of mine because I remember when another one of her friends got engaged she made such a big deal of telling me about having to get a gift and then when I got engaged she didn't even send a card. I always make a point of remembering stuff like that but I guess not everyone does.
