Re: Future brides...what areas will you & your FH be looking to live in?

We have a house in Commack. The school district is supposed to be great and we got a good deal so the plan is to do some remodeling and sell in 5-7 hopefully the profit will be enough to move into the Cold Spring Area! That's where I really want to be. Closer to the water and in that school district!

Re: Future brides...what areas will you & your FH be looking to live in?

Currently we rent in Franklin Square. I love it here, but for the size land and house you get for $550k (going rate) it makes me sick! Especially knowing you can get something 5 times the size upstate or another state! We would like to stay here in Franklin Square or West Hempstead, Malverne area. BUT if I could blink and be at work I would definitely move out east...maybe near my cousin in Oakdale/Sayville area.

Right now we live together in a house in Bayside, Queens (we rent). We would like to purchase either a house or townhouse upstate a little ways. We've looked in New City and Bronxville. We both work in Midtown so we prefer a place on the Metro North line!

angela...both places are nice. my mom has cousins in new city and its beautiful there. a friend of mine lives in bronxville, its nice there

I'm hoping we get to stay in Redondo Beach, CA. My FH isn't as excited since its sooo expensive. I keep hoping the housing market will slow down so we can sell our condo and buy a house before my FH relocates us somewhere cheaper

Re: Future brides...what areas will you & your FH be looking to live in?

We currently live in NYC together and I believe I am stuck here for several years to come. I commute to NJ everyday, fh works in midtown, with a nice cute 20 min commute by subway. Now, admittedly, after a HELLISH commute to and from work today and a parking ticket for literally the 2 MINUTES I used to deposit a check on my way home (there goes that $, totally my fault, didn't pay meter, but come ON 2 MInutes?!?!), I am feeling beat down by the city. It's a fabulous place to visit. It's very different if you live here. Probably doesn't help that I commute with all the a**hole drivers on the planet everyday. I really detest living here sometimes. I like open space and friendly people...Sometimes in short supply here.

I really needed to vent. Sorry I've gone totally of topic. I had a really bad day.

Anyway, I would LOVE to move down to VA, where I was for 9 years in college and grad school, but there's a better chance of hell freezing over than fh moving to different job or his mother not having a complete heart attack if I took her first born out of state. Ugh.

We're staying right where we are, in Forest Hills. We'll be there until we can buy something or we die. Not sure which will come first

We live in my co-op in Forest Hills too! As soon as we get married, we're upgrading to a bigger place, but staying in Forest Hills - I love it here!

Re: Future brides...what areas will you & your FH be looking to live in?

We're going to stay in our apartment in Lindenhurst for at least a year or so after the wedding, then who knows. Part of me want to go back to CT, but that would mean looking for a teaching job all over again.

We're currently apartment hunting... and who knows where we'll find an affordable place. But we're looking all over, NYC, Brooklyn, Queens, Long Beach...
