Honeymoon - Sandals Vacations?

We're still scrambling for a honeymoon location and our agent gave us all inclusive deals on Sandals resorts. Anyone know anything about these resorts? Are they good quality places?

Specificially, we're looking into Jamaica & St. Lucia. (b/c their resorts are spas in both of those places). Any info on either one of the islands would be super helpful.

Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Honeymoon - Sandals Vacations?

Some of my very good friends went to Sandals St. Lucia for their honeymoon. It was wonderful!!! First Class treatment all the way and tons of ammenities- It is couples only and most of the people there are honeymooners as well. There were no hidden costs for them either. In addition my college roommate is a travel agent and she has gone to many of the resorts to rate them- and she has loved all of the sandals she has been too-If I remeber correctly the one in Antigua is her favorite! There is one other place that I will recommend to you later-she was begging me to go there for my honeymoon because it was the nicest of all the places she has been (I have to look for the name) It was extremely affordable and very high class. I am a mickey lover though and I have my heart set on a Disney honeymoon! If you want any other insider advice feel free to e-amil me!

Thanks - however I may be following you only 3 weeks later! : )

Unfortunately, I need to make this decision soon. The simple fact that you are going makes me feel better though! : )

When I went to him that day to cancel my wedding he questioned the price I was paying per-plate, asking why I was charged so much. That was a little un-nerving.

Which one in Jamaica did you pick?

There are a few and the brochure highlights some amenities, but not enough to make an educated decision.......

I went to Sandals Dunns River in Jamaica for my honeymoon and I could not have asked for anything better. Everything was absolutely wonderful, the food, the service, there were always things to do if you wanted to. I would highly recommend it.

Karen - We honeymooned at Sandals Jamaica last MAy. It was wonderful! They really treat you like king and queen. The food is good not fantastic. Our room was really nice. But we do know people that had room problems. They were promptly relocated to new rooms but it's still a hassle.

Actually, we're only having MoH and a BM. So we're filling our table with all of our single friends as well.

Honeymoon - Sandals Vacations?

I went to Sandals in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Everything was excellent. The best part was it was within 10 minutes of 2 others Sandals. The pay for one and play at 6 policy of Sandals allowed us to eat at the other 2 Sandals for free. Transportation to them is free and convenient also. We took a trip to Dunns River Falls and had the taxi take us to eat at the Sandals in Dunns River. It looked beautiful at that Sandals also.

Honeymoon - Sandals Vacations?

We are going to Sandals in Antigua. This is the island right above St. Lucia. This is rated the most romantic sandals resort, the #1 honeymoon resort. My Boss went to St. Lucia last year and said it was very nice, although the beaches were not very good at all. She's going to Antigua this year.

I was disgusted by a meeting with one DJ who mentioned a tip, two minutes into our conversation. Needless to say, I knew two minutes into the conversation that he was not the one for me. And reading Rob of "Starlight Productions" post, I am glad that HE is not the one either.

For the record, I fully intend on tipping AND feeding my DJ (because he had the class to NOT mention either)

Honeymoon - Sandals Vacations?

From what I looked into and learned I felt Sandals was a prety good deal. Club med doesnt include alcohol (not that I am a lush) but I thought that that was a little strange. One of my best friends honeymooned in Montego Bay and loved it. She said that the food was "different" because of all the spices they used (like ginger etc). I had read some things about tourist warnings about staying with-in a Resort area. But everything else I have ever read or been told was excellent. I almost chose Sandals but the whole "destination Wedding" sort of put it out of my budget.

Peace, Mark

Honeymoon - Sandals Vacations?

I have heard that Sandals Antiqua is wonderful. It's a little expensive for me since I and my fiance are paying for our own wedding. I'm checking out a small island off the keys of florida called LITTLE PALM ISLAND. I don't know the rates yet, but it looks beautiful. You can check it out at any search engine. Type in little palm island, FL. It's a resort/spa and they are really into the environment and the animals. It looks extremely exclusive, but worth it. I'm waiting for a reply back on their rates.

The Harrison House is very nice. My company has had conferences there. The grounds are breathtaking and the food is excellent! They have a very interesting cocktail hour set-up with different rooms featuring differnet food. Also, since it is a hotel, it makes it sooo convenient for your out of town guests. Anyway, I hope this helps a little!

Good Luck,

If you don't mind, please email me their rates. Looks like Sandals isn't going to be within our finanical reach so I need to explore other options.

Mary Smith daughter of Mr. Joseph Smith and John Brown son of Mr. & Mrs. Robert Brown invite you.......

It worked - and everyone was happy!

Kate - one more question - any idea of entertainment or other activities besides water sports? A town to visit? Shows?

While I love my soon to be husband, I think we'd both go a little batty after the 4th day of silence...........then again, I might actually need 7 days of silence by the time the wedding arrives! : )

Karen, try and look up Little Palm Island in Florida. It's an island (romantic) off the keys. Right now you can get airfare from NY to Miami for 165.00 round trip. (My travel agents here in the office told me). Then from Miami you can drive down the coast for and hour and 45 minutes to the island ramp. (Car - $40.00 bucks, maybe 20.00). I'm seriously looking into it because I'm on a budget too. The water is blue and there is lots to doo. GOOD LUCK!

On another note, we also debated about response cards. Since I'm the one doing all the preparations I had wanted the responses to come directly to me. That didn't seem appropriate if we use the traditional wording on the invite. So, response cards are now going to my parents. Then I'll get them from them. Not my ideal choice, but it's not worth an arguement.

IF we were going, it would have been to Negril. You're right, the web page doesn't say a great deal but I found a multipage spread in the back of one of the many bridal mags at home that gave a full page description of each resort. Negril was recently renovated, has a spa & the entertainment seems a bit more extensive than the others.

I also like the idea of the glass bottom boats!

I'm not sure what your budget is, but we are also paying for the entire wedding ourselves. Try going to clicktrips.com. That's where we booked our trip, you chat with someone online. They will work with you. It's worth a try.

I booked them for my wedding in May. They came recommended from someone else's wedding. They were fairly reasonable and seem to give you al lot for your money. If I remember, the total price is around 2,000. That it with those really high centerpieces, 11 tables, 5 bm . They were cheaper than the other florist I went to by a considerable amount.
