Honeymoon - Sandals Vacations?

We booked our honeymoon to Sandals in Antigua, and can't wait to get there, 3 1/2 months to go. My boss went to Sandals in St. Lucia and loved it, although she said the beaches are not that great. But there are a ton of other things to do.

Try it on with the dress, if you like it, go with it. If you mess with the veil you may not like it afterwards and then what do you do?

What did your boss say was wrong with the beaches in St. Lucia?

I had the same thing happen. I have a similer dress. A line, no train. I knew I wanted and needed something simple for the dress, but even then everything was too much. So I also special ordered a veil. Two layers on a comb (which would go under my "updo" (no blusher). When I got it home and tried it on I realized it was not what I wanted - too puffy. The problem.... the comb is too wide, so the bridal shop will put it on a smaller comb and "thin it out." Maybe this is an option.

There are so many etiquette rules, I hate it. I'm just doing what I want, even though I hear it from my family members. Since my fiance and I are paying for the entire thing, they have no say. That's my opinion.

She said the beaches were very rocky and small. Although they had a ton of pools.

She still had an amazing time and said the island was beautiful.

As a side note - and this was my dad's idea - our father/daughter dance will be to the song my parents danced to on their wedding day. The only people who will know is us - but that's all that really matters anyway.....

Honeymoon - Sandals Vacations?

Any one hear anything on the one in Nassau, Bahamas?? I was planning to go to Antigua, but had to switch at the last minute due to the limited flights to Antigua that are direct flights (did not want to waste a day flying/changing planes when paying big bucks for all-inclusive!). I wanted to leave on Sunday early & fly direct and it was immpossible. I would've had to leave on Sat. at 7am after my Friday evening wedding that ends at 1230am. When we booked, we were told the direct flight was avail on Sunday, but then the airline changed it's schedule (Bwia) OR the travel agent screwed up! By the way, our travel agent said the beach in Antigua was bigger than St. Lucia, but St. Lucia was an overall more beatiful island. She said snorkeling was equal at both. Did anyone have trouble finding direct flights? What time do you plan on leaving/arriving?

We have a direct flight to Antigua leaving 7am on Sunday the day after our wedding, luckily the wedding ends at 5:30. Try contacting www.clicktrips.com, you can speak to someone online and they specialize in Sandal resorts. Maybe they can work something out for you.

Good Luck! I'm sure all the sandals resorts are beautiful, they have a very good reputation.

Honeymoon - Sandals Vacations?

Hi. I actually am in the process of planning my honeymoon. My very good friend is a travel agent and she said that the Sandals in Nassau is probably one of the nicest of the Sandals properties. It is newer and has the highest rated spa facility there is. We opted not to go to Nassau because we have already been but my travel agent raved about it. Good Luck

I'm hiring a quartet to visit Paul late morning on our wedding day ...they're going to sing "Going to the Chapel" and give him a special note from me. : )

Sure, its a little corny but its very much my style. : ) When I was a property manager, I'd go caroling with the quartet for the Holidays and everyone loved it!

Honeymoon - Sandals Vacations?

I am going to Antigua. I believe that Sandals itself charters a direct flight out of Newark - but that is only Sundays. We are getting married on July 4 which is a Tuesday so that didn't work for us, but through my research and travel angent, I also found that Contenantial has a direct flight from Newark that leaves early in the morning and comes back at night. If you go to travalocity.com you can get all the flights that leave from the area. We opted for the direct BWIA at 7 am after our evening reception to avoid losing a day, but will be real tired!

I have heard that the Nassau Sandals is very nice, but it is bigger and there is a lot of turnover. People are just there for a 3 or 4 days so there is alot of coming and going. It depends what you are looking for. We wanted something a little more low key. One thing though it will be cheaper to fly to Nassau!

Honeymoon - Sandals Vacations?

My fiance' and I plan to go to Sandals , St. Lucia. Do you have any tips or suggestions for me when we make our reservations ? Thank You Dawn

Judy, I am sure that the head piece is fine...at this stage in the game the one thing that I have learned is not to take what people say too seriously...you know what they say about opinions...they are like a_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _, everyone has one! for example. the bra that I picked for my dress, one week the lady at the bridal salon said that the cup was too big. I spent a whole week agonizing over it and thinking about taking it back to have more alterations done to it (I got it at Mary's they do custom work) and then the next week she told me how well the bra fit!! Same thing with the slip, my Mom told me that the one slip was too poofy, I went along with her, and took the smaller one even though I wanted the poofy one, and then the next week I put on the poofy one for the fitting and she did not even notice until I told her. Go with your head piece, he has not seen the finished product yet, and don't show him anything else! you will just upset yourself, if his comments are not what you want to hear. When is your date again? Good luck with your dress!!

Jamelle

Honeymoon - Sandals Vacations?

Shop around!!! Sandals right now has a $550 off promo -you can see their actual prices on sandals.com. I called sandals directly for a price and then went from there. Found better prices from delta vacations (dont rember exact website) and my travel agent....by several hundred dollars. Some one here also mentioned clicktrips.com...but for me, they turned out higher.

I think the end of February is plenty of time to send the invites.

Honeymoon - Sandals Vacations?

I went to Sandals St. Lucia (Halcyon) and it was really very nice. Lots of amenities. There is so much to do and I thought the beaches were lovely.

**But** 1. The food/restaurants at Halcyon was only so-so. The restuarants at the largers Sandals on St. Lucia were much better--we took the shuttle every night to have dinner there rather than at Halcyon. 2. Our room was supposed to be "ocean-view" but we could hardly see the ocean from our room. That room title was very deceiving.

Good luck!!

They are having a special.... $555.00 off per couple. We wanted to get the ocean view room on the bluff (the most expensive villa with plunge pool) but the travel agent pointed out that why spend extra money when were were getting the same amenties as the people who pay top dollar. So we settled for the honeymoon ocean view villa. Less money same benefits...

Discount Bridal Service provides dresses at 20 to 30% off the retail price quoted. If you email me the dress information (manafacturer, what magazine, page number, issue you saw it in) I can give you a quote. I have been a dealer for this company since 1994. We do approx. 85% of t he retailers. W+W, dessy, bari Jay, jim Helm, levkoff, new image...

When I first booked the room, I expressed my concerns to Tiffany. My FMIL will be using that bathroom all night (the reason why we booked it is b/c she is on oxygen and she needs everything on one level b/c she can't climb stairs). Told her it needed to be cleaned & prepped...she said she'd put a flower arrangement in the room.
