Since I am hoping to have a permanent guidance counselor job for next fall - I knew I had to do a summer wedding and not interfere with the school calendar. We wanted a Sunday night because it was cheaper. First I really liked 7/11 (and making jokes with friends about serving slurpees at the wedding - but then we found out that someone else we know is getting married on the 10th and we didn't want to be the day after. My mom like the 1st because she said the 1st is a new month - a new beginning. It's actually the last Sunday of the summer I was looking at - i didn't want to get married and honeymoon any later than that because guidance counselor typically start working 3rd or 4th week of August.

my original date of 10/16(which happens to be a saturday in 2004) is also our anniversary, but my brother's best friend is getting married that day, so we let our venue decide...since the milleridge gets all decorated for the holidays, we wanted to do it when they were up and i wanted to do it as early as i can, so it ended up being the sat after thanksgiving

WE had to have a summer date because we're both teachers, so basically I looked at the calendar and said, 'Hon! We're getting married July 3, 2005, OK?!' And he hollered back, 'Sure!' from the other room

I was totally set on a sat night wedding...and wouldn't look at a hall that didn't have sat nights open in the summer (teacher)


but when I saw my hall and they showed me the open dates...7/14 hit me in the face...


DH's father was from France and he dies before DH was born...so I thought it was the perfect way to 'include' him in the wedding
7/14 is Bastille Day in France (like our July 4th)

FH and I got engaged in Sept 2003...he is 39 (divorced). He said he wanted to get married before he turned 40...which is July...so that didn't give us much time. I decided either March or April because I didn't want to pay peak prices in May or June. I asked the hall...prices for March and April were the same...so I went with April hoping for warmer weather. I really wanted 4/24/04, but it was booked so we took the week before.

We picked originally July 17, 2004 and later changed it to July 31, 2004 because we couldn't get the hall for the 17th. We wanted summer because I am a teacher so I wouldn't have to take any days off for preparation or honeymoon.

We went with what the hall had available for May-June of 2005 and it turned out that it was either May 21 or June 11. We went with June 11 because it is our dating anniversary Also, my dad's birthday is June 12 and we'll have a cake for him at midnight.

We both like the fall and figured that late September would be great - and September usually has awesome weather. Well, it was a pretty nice day, but after having cool weather for a few weeks (which is what we wanted) it turned out to be 80something degrees and super humid that day. Oh well. We're married!

I originally wanted Friday, October 1 because it just seemed like a good date. Then we were going to do September 24, the weekend before, because that's our anniversary. Well turns out Sept. and Oct. were nearly the most expensive months for halls, so we went with November. Even though we could have done August for a few dollars cheaper per person, we didn't want to get married in the heat, and his parents had a cruise planned at the end of the month, so November it was.

I always wanted an Xmas wedding theme and we got engaged on Xmas Eve, so went with Dec. We got the 3rd, even though I really wanted the 4th. FH wanted a Friday night wedding though, besides, it was cheaper... So we got our date!

FI propsed to me in June of 2002 right the weekend before I went in to have brain surgery. So I knew right off the bat that a year away was not going to be do able because I would be out of work for almost 6 months.
So we decided to wait till I was back at work and go a year from then. Well I went back to work full time in January of 2003 and I couldn't wait much longer so we set the date of Nov 5th, the first friday in Nov.
This would allow me at least a year of full time work and give time to save some money since I had been out of work and getting hardly any money for income.
