Re: How did you pick your wedding date?
= Tax Accountant January - April OUT and to try to do may would be really hard because that would mean doing things during April which is OUT
= SCUBA dive shop owner - June - September OUT because he's doing dive tripsSo that left October, November & December and I didn't want to be too close to the holidays... Soooooo October - then FH picked the 1st because (and I quote) 'It was easy to remember'

Re: How did you pick your wedding date?
Originally, we wanted September 29, 2007. That was the date of the first time FH ever told me that he loved me. I liked using a date that meant something to us. But the church was taken. And that is the church that I have been going to since I was 7 years old so there was no way I was going somewhere else. Then we decided to get married in the Spring because then we could go to the Carribbean for our honeymoon (Sept-Oct is hurricane season). May seemed like the perfect month... just had to pick a date.
My brother is graduating with his Master's degree May 12th, which means the 12th is out. The 5th is out because FH and I want to go on a 2 week honeymoon. I called the church again and the 19th was booked so.....
May 26th, 2007 it is!!!!!!!
We discussed getting married on Memorial Day weekend. And we decided being that none of our immediate family goes away that it is good.

Re: How did you pick your wedding date?
We used Chinese Astrology to pick our wedding day. A Chinese elder consulted the Chinese almanac based on our birthdate and birth times. They gave us a list of days throughout the year where we could get married. We then narrowed it down based on his mom's preference to not have our wedding in a month where an immediate relative had passed away. Also, the number 4 in Cantonese is phonetically similar to the word 'death' so we avoided days with the number four. So overall, it was a VERY complicated process but I couldn't have been HAPPIER with the date we chose!

Well being that I'm a teacher that pretty much eliminated 10 months of the year.
I am a teacher too but I teach summer school because the money is too good to pass up sooooooo we planned a Feb 18th wedding for that reason primarily as well as the following others:
1) BECAUSE I am a teacher I had to plan it around one of the week-long vacations. Christmas week was out - most of our guests had children and vacation that week as well as many of our guests celebrate Christmas even though we do not.
2) I was able to take a honeymoon during the week I was off (PRESIDENTS WEEK) and my school allowed me to take an additional 5 work days to extend the honeymoon.
3) President's weekend meant a lot of people had off from work that Monday and had an extra day to travel. Even though it was the dead of winter, we had people coming from Malibu, CA., Tampa, FL., Chicago, IL. and Sedona, AZ.. These people wanted to be there regardless of weather.
4) We had to wait until AFTER FOOTBALL SEASON for two reasons:
4a) DH plays in a football league and being part of a team means you do not miss two weekends of football (which did not bother me one bit contrary to what you might have thought)
4b) One of DH's groomsmen is a reporter who covers one of the NY teams for a NY paper and would not have been able to attend.
5) We did not choose the Spring Break week as it interfered with Passover and Easter celebrations.
6) At the temple of our choice, a date after March would have cost about $25-$30 more per plate and with a big wedding, we had to find a way to save without sacrificing the caliber of wedding we wanted.
7) Back to the teacher/summer thing - Along with cost of summer weddings, I dont particularly care for hot months. If the a/c crapped out, I would have been a miserable bride dealing with an even more miserable and uncomfortable mother.
8) After NIXING a summer OUTDOOR wedding for the above reasons (cost and comfort), DH chose to have a black tie Saturday night FORMAL wedding INSIDE. Because we are Jewish, in order for us to get married on a Saturday, we would have to wait until the sun went down. No rabbi would have married us until Shabbat was over no matter how reform (NOT 'REFORMED' - sorry this irks me to no end when people make this mistake) s/he is. Having a summer Saturday night wedding would have meant that the sun would go down very late and our guests wouldnt eat dinner until close to midnight. People have kids they have to get home to.

Re: How did you pick your wedding date?
We picked our hall and caterer. Then we fell in love with the caterer. Then we went to talk to them about dates and found out a bigger catering company that we didn't love was taking over our hall and we booked the only date they had available. They had already handed over all the open dates to the new company so the had nothing. Then a bride called and cancelled and we took her date right then.Hope she didn't call back and change her mind because we took it immediately after the call ended.

Re: How did you pick your wedding date?
January- too cold, and it's my birthday month and after all these years celebrating my b-day dealing with blizzards, and bad weather, I just didn't want something else to celebrate in the coldFebruary- too cold
March- I'll be a bridesmaid on 3/31/07 (jenmike331!!!).....wow I just realized this will probably be my last wedding as a 'single' woman!!!
April- FH's birthday month....he didn't like April b/c he thinks the weather is too unpredictable
May- FH thinks its a rainy month (or has been lately)
June- our hall didn't have any June dates open
July- originally wanted July 14th b/c that's our dating anniversary- but the hall didn't have it open, so we decided if we weren't getting that date it wasn't worth dealing with the heat!!
August- too hot....and softball playoffs for FH!
September- perfect!!!!
October- my best friend is getting married 10/20/07 and I'm her maid of honor
November- hunting season for FH
December- too cold, and too hectic for our families

Re: How did you pick your wedding date?
We knew we wanted to be married in the summer. I am done with my internship in Aug. So we didn't have much of a choice. Our reception hall told us the date they had available and we took it. Hopefully, mother nature will be on our side.

Re: How did you pick your wedding date?
Jan-March- too coldApril- one of my older brothers was married in this month
June- wasn't feeling that month, second older brother was married in this month
July- both my sisters' were married in this month
August- too hot
Sept- originally choose the second to last week, but the halls we looked at already were booked for that month. Thank god we didn't choose that month because friends of us had a shot gun wedding and chose that month in Feb.
October- we love the fall, so chose for the first week in this month, and still alittle warm
Nov- considered but felt it would start getting colder and because of thanksgiving in the same month.
Dec- too cold, and christmas and news years in this month
