Just got this email---
A way for brides to help out:
Shopping=Donation
Lisa - this is AWESOME
I was also talking to a friend last night and he told me that you can donate your miles to Katrina relief. I'm calling AMEX today to see if there are similiar programs with points.

That's great!
Thanks for assisting with the bumping (you too Jessica). I'd rather be positive with my 1,000,000,000 posting than negative.
Now...too bad we can't turn each post we make into $$ for donations!

Re: Hurricane Katrina
BumpAlso check with the companies you work for... My company usually matches donations to any non profit organization $1 for $1. For Hurricane Katrina, they sent out an e-mail stating that all donations given to the American Red Cross Hurricane Katrina Fund will be matched $2 for $1... That way if I donate $100, American Red Cross will get $300....

Re: Hurricane Katrina
My FH is going to kill me. This morning I called to tell him that I was donating $100.00 to the Red Cross. But when I went to the site to donate and were reading all the stories they have, I didn't think $100.00 was enough. So I donated $500.00. It seems like such a small amount. But I had to, I have 4 young children and seeing these kids and babies on the news, hungry, tired and dehydrated, I had to give more than I originally wanted. God Bless all of the people that this hurricane affected.

Re: Hurricane Katrina
my fh brought up a good point by reminding me that money will not help them get the things they need now when the stores are washed away!we are going shopping to buy non-perishable foods, baby formula and water and we will be going through our closets to give away any clothes and shoes we don't use now.

The money will also help because the red cross will be able to use if for what they need to bring in.

what I am saying is that $$ is not the ONLY thing they need right now.
