I have to agree with Rachel only b/c if it was my wedding I would have kicked someones rumpuss without any hesitation ESPECIALLY if I paid for it! There really is no excuse for letting it go on!

Make sure you know where you FMIL and her aunt are at all time. I will keep an eye on them 'personally'

I still stand firm that it never would have flown in my wedding. NEVER. I feel sorry for her, but it's YOUR WEDDING THAT YOU PAID FOR. You don't want them there, GET SECURITY. And not for nothing, I blame the Four Seasons, too. How can such a reputable place allow for something like that to happen when the bride and groom never told them about it? It's sad, but it's your wedding day, and it never would have flown at my wedding.
I agree again..I do feel sorry for her though..
I would have had them kicked out an arrested for trespassing. And the MIl would have been brought up on co-consiprator charges as well as the contractor.

Ok, not for nothing, yeah, that s-cks if it did really happen, but who plans and pays for a wedding, then ALLOWS that to happen? I mean, if that happened to me, you better believe my father, my grandfather, my uncles, etc., would be dragging those Star Wars characters out by their balls. And if they didn't do it, I'd be on the phone with the police. I don't really buy that story. I just can't imagine two people ALLOWING that to happen at their wedding. JMO.
AMEN!

Re: If you think you have MIL issues....
OMG!!! That poor girl! But that crap would never have flown at my weding, either. I'd ask the Maitre' D to find a way to subtly get them out of there. And if they couldn't do it, I'd do it myself. That crazy b*tch of a MIL probably had her shady BF contact the guy. So ridiculous. I'll never say a thing about my FMIL after reading this one.
We should induct the bride into Bridentology. The MIL has no idea what she's up against with our cult!

The same points were brought up on the Nest's board - and this is what she said:
Good questions.
1.) WC was there the whole time. The reason we didn't stop it after 10 minutes is that every man in that room turned into an eight year-old boy. I was put in the very difficult position of either allowing this to go on, or looking like a total bridezilla and kicking them out. This is what we call a double bind. MIL is very, very savvy. She knew she was either going to make me look like an absolute b*tch or get her way.
2.) MIL told WC that she had gotten DH's approval for the 'surprise.' WC was also informed that the surprise was going to happen at the RD, which is why the kitchen wasn't prepared for something like this. They could have budgeted in an addition 30 minutes, at the very least. When she didn't go anything at the RD, we thought she had chickened out or changed her mind.
3.) The dinner was to be an elegant sit-down affair. Waiters came to the tables before the first course was even served so guests could choose between entrees. Because filet was one option, each dinner was cooked per temp specification.
We asked ourselves the same questions when it was all over. It was like putting the pieces of a big puzzle together - each story from each person that we heard from gave us more insight into how this all transpired.

AGAIN.....why would a professional wedding coordinator, who undoubtedly was informed of the difficult MIL, just take the word of the crazy MIL that this had the groom's approval? And I'm sorry, but I would highly doubt that anyone would think the bride was a b-tch for kicking out Star Wars characters from her elegant wedding, nor do I think that I would care at that point. I still don't buy it.

Re: If you think you have MIL issues....
I am sorry....but heads would have rolled. I feel so terrible for this bride...I can imagine trying to be so graceful...BUT the best part is, that now everyone know what a biatch the MIL is. Don;t worry, what goes around comes around...This bride has nothing to worry about. Fate will intervene.

Totally agree with you. That's the day when my dad, brother, & not to mention my FH would let this go down!!
What kind of guy did this chick marry? Yeah, ok- he didn't know, but I mean--Come on! You see how much you & your fiancee went through in planning this event. You know how important it is to her & yourself......And you sit back like an idiot while your new wife of minutes watches her dream day turn into Return of the Jedi????
I would have taken that light saber & shoved it so far up.......nevermind- but you get the idea! Ooooh, it would be one nasty day for my FH if that was happening to us.
But oh, wait, my FH isn't a thumb sucking Star Wars Mamas Boy! Ahhh, let that moron stay with him! Now I'm mad at her too! Everyone stinks in this story! Bye!
Whew, I feel better now.

Re: If you think you have MIL issues....
i agree with rachel here, its one of those 'that could not have happened' deals. we all know some mil's are evil, but to go that far and to ruin her son's wedding day, thats just too much

Re: If you think you have MIL issues....
I told DH about this and he asked 'was this in NYC
' He said no way could that happen at HIS wedding or the wedding of any NYer since heads would roll
A storm trooper or two would have been seriously injured
I feel so bad for the bride and groom but why did nobody call the maitre D, the hotel manager, the wedding coordinator
The situation could have been contained quickly and wasted only 20 minutes tops for the speech, photos and presenting the gift. And what is with the idiot security personnel that let people waltz into the Four Seasons to crash a wedding in full costume when they knew that there was no Star Wars convention taking place at their hotel
I mean, how does a storm trooper pass security
Much less 4 storm troopers
You would think that someone would have confirmed with the bride/groom/wedding coordinator BEFORE letting them in to the reception since they obviously coordinated with SOMEONE to get the Imperial March theme music played
21 months of saving and planning for a wedding that was at least $130 per person + tax and gratuity and it was all sabotaged by the MIL from hell

I commend the bride and groom for handling it so well. I can honestly say that DH would have flipped out and it may have come to blows. No way would they have been INVITED to stay for dinner
