The only time you address them is if you are inviting children from a family.. Example..

Outer Env. Mr. and Mrs. J. Smith

Inner: John, Jane, Bobby, Sue

( they also get listed in age order) Oldest to youngest.

not true.....it is a personl preference
on the knot, they had a entire page of different examples....

it is up to the couple.. that just what I did though...

Re: Inner Envelopes: Am I the Only one....

my invitations had an upgraded and thick lined long envelope. with this selection the inner envelope is not offered and omitted entirely.

however, if i stayed with the original envelope they offered, it gives you inner as an option and i would have addressed the inner and outer.

as far as receiving, the last 3 invitations i received, 1 had inner and outer addressed
2 had inner envelope with no names on it

i think 'cranes etiquette' suggests that you should have the inner envelope to specifiy who exactly is invited but who follows cranes these days?

i say do what you want. no one will think less of you if you dont address the inner envelope or if you omit it altogether

I have never received a wedding invitation with the inner envelope left blank.
