i did not do it. i said 5 and it starts at 5; sorry i DO NOT feel its must do, folks should just get there on time or early.
I agree. It won't bother me if people come late to the Church. You need to be careful if you are getting married at Church, there may be another wedding before yours that you'll end up running into.

Although it's annoying to have people come late and you may feel like they should get there on time, it can be distruptive to the ceremony/mass if there are latecomers. Padding the time if you can, will eliminate that factor. Who knows, you may even need that extra time!

Re: Lying on your invite about ceremony starting time, opinions please!
I would definitely do 15 minutes. You don't want people
walking in right as your walking down the aisle.

you know I think you also have to take into account where your ceremony is.. If it is at your reception venue, it is a totally different story.

I'm getting married at the hall, and all of the halls we went to said that the invitation time is 30 minutes prior to the ceremony. There will be music and drinks, so I don't feel bad that some people will be waiting.

Re: Lying on your invite about ceremony starting time, opinions please!
I was actually thinking of putting an hour earlier. My wedding starts at 12Noon and I may put 11:00 or 11:15. This may sound crazy but most of my guests are coming from broooklyn and are already complaining about us choosing Long Island. In my culture people are always late too. It's just a given. An hour ahead is just the right time. For example my cousins wedding last year, her invitation stated 4:00p. We knew that they were not going to be on time. When my mother and I arrived at the church at 5:15 they bride was just arriving in the limo.

I know I will be in the minority, but I agree with MOB. I do arrive on time (even to my own wedding!!) and it is one of my biggest pet peeves when events start 30 minutes later just because we are waiting for latecomers. I understand why people do it, but I didn't, and I don't think that many people were late. We also had a mass, however, so if they were 10-15 minutes late, they were still there for most of it.
I have to agree. I've actually never heard of doing such a thing. The majority of the guest are on time, I can't see holding them up for the few that will be late. If people do go late, I would hope they would have the commonsense to stay outside until you were up the aisle.

I should have done it.At least 30 people either came in moments before I walked down the aisle while I was waiting in the vestibule or after me.

Re: Lying on your invite about ceremony starting time, opinions please!
Since you asked about 'lying' about the time I will just say...I cannot tell a lie! The time I wrote on the invite is 4pm, and the ceremony will start at 4pm. I am always early or on time to weddings and I will simply spread the word (it's already on my websites that the ceremony will begin PROMPTLY at 4) that I wish to start on time. The late comers may enter the sanctuary through side doors and don't necessarily need to walk down the center aisle.

I am putting 4:00 on the invites but the ceremony starts at 5:00. at the hallThe hall will be giving me a refreshment half hour from 4:30-5:00 just in case people do arrive on time which I think NOT. Not my family they are always late

Re: Lying on your invite about ceremony starting time, opinions please!
I am also putting the 'real' start time on my invitations. After reading all the posts, I was wondering if I should change it, but then I know that I always try hard to be on time, if I am running late, I make sure I steer way clear of the bride's entrance. I also have a lot of people being there that will automatically show up a 1/2 hour early so they don't miss anything- the invite says 4 so that's when it's going to start.Welcome New Vendors
