Do you think people are more lax when it comes to a ceremony that is not being held in a church? Maybe if I had not had it in a church, I would think differently.

We lied by 30 mins, esp. because our wedding was a Friday night and people would have worked, rush hour traffic, etc.It worked out great. Almost everyone made it in time for the ceremony.

i did not do it. i said 5 and it starts at 5; sorry i DO NOT feel its must do, folks should just get there on time or early.
I have to agree. I put the correct time on my invites and no one was late except my friend who got lost.

I put the correct time on mine. IMHO it is rude to put otherwise. People have to leave work early possibly, pay babysitters sooner...I think if you are inviting adults, they should know how to be on time and have enough respect for you to do so. Even people who are typically late for things manage to keep jobs, so it isn't a complete impossibility...

If I want my family to attend then I have to say the ceremony is going to start 1/2 hour before it is due to start.

definately a must do... we did only 15 minutes earlier, so not to keep people too late but still not to have them walk in along with me

We are putting 2:45 for a 3:00 wedding. It was suggested that we do this.

We're getting married at the hall and they specifically told me NOT to pad my time (but I'm going to anyway). I figured 6:45 looked better than putting 7pm SHARP

Re: Lying on your invite about ceremony starting time, opinions please!
I wrestled with this issue as well and in the end I decided to go with the REAL time - 1:00 PM.People need to be more responsible and organized. If they know the wedding is at 1:00 PM then they need to be there on time or early.
It's not fair to people who arrive early to sit for 30 minutes. Then they'll think that I'M LATE!

I know I will be in the minority, but I agree with MOB. I do arrive on time (even to my own wedding!!) and it is one of my biggest pet peeves when events start 30 minutes later just because we are waiting for latecomers. I understand why people do it, but I didn't, and I don't think that many people were late. We also had a mass, however, so if they were 10-15 minutes late, they were still there for most of it.
Agree, but I also have a full mass.

I agree people will think the Bride was late-also if I was a guest (who is on time to things) I'd be upset if I had to wait a half hour (and found out that the time on the invitation was incorrect) but that is JMO

I agree. I'm also putting the real start time. If people are late, it's not my problem. I'm not going to have people waiting for a half hour to accomodate people who are late.

Re: Lying on your invite about ceremony starting time, opinions please!
NO, I am NOT doing that to my guest. I think its rude to have your guest wait 30 minutes, and then sit through the mass or ceremony. Me personally I hate to wait and 30 is pushing it. you dont want your guest allready pissed b/c they went out of their way to arrive on time leave work early to sit and wait 30 even 15. I was advised not to and the photographer and church people will stop any late comers from coming in interfering with pictures if youre worried about that.Welcome New Vendors
