Re: NWR...How long is your commute?

My commute is 5 minutes. I live in West babylon and teach in North Babylon, and when we buy a house after the wedding I will not commute more than 30 minutes, but that is b/c I want to get pregnant shortly after we are married and I think about who will be watching my kid and things like that

I will have to be there at 8am for a month, then after that i will have to be there at 8pm(night shift). without traffic it takes me 40 minutes from hicksville, how early should i leave?

what parkways / route will you be taking?? that can be really important in figuring out how long it will take you

i commute from Massapequa Park into Elmhurst everyday. I leave at 6:15/ 6:20 am and get there anywhere between 7:10-7:40. depends on traffic.

But usually it takes 1 hour and 10 min

i used to commute to elmhurst everyday, i left at 5:20am and by the time i found parking, it was about 6:45am and then i still had to walk to the building, it was sooo stressful!

I actually havent had much of a problem with that thank goodness. We (i commute witha friend) usually park no more than 3 blocks away and during the winter on alternate side parking days our principal lets us park in the lot.

i did the bronx commute , lived there and worked in nassau so i was going agains traffic and i lived RIGHT at the bridge - but i saw the traffic going to the BX in the morning - my gyno is by the zoo

like i said it really depends on what time you have to be there

I will have to be there at 8am for a month, then after that i will have to be there at 8pm(night shift). without traffic it takes me 40 minutes from hicksville, how early should i leave?

ok, to be there at 8 AM, you really need to leave by about 620 - the thing is that it will get you there early - prob around 730 BUT if you leave later, it will take 2 hours

what parkways / route will you be taking?? that can be really important in figuring out how long it will take you

i will be taking NSP, LIE to cross island, cross bronx and bronx river parkway. i am familiar with LI parkways but honestly have no idea what the cross island and bronx parkways are like between 7 and 9am, im sure its pretty bad, but i dont know HOW bad...

Is there anyway you can get there without taking the cross bronx? WHere exactly in the bronx do you have to go? FH is really good with parkways and alternate routes and I can ask him

yes, that is my point - the cross island to the Throggs Neck or to the Whitestone??

If u take it to the throggs neck, you can get right onto the cross bx, which is a nightmare by 715 but what i was trying to say earlier, is that there are not that many ways to get to the area near the zoo
you have to take cross bx then u can get on the bronx river or pelham parkway

I was saying earlier that it is bad and it is worse than commuting to other boroughs because there are fewer ways to get North, than to get east and west -

I take the wantagh to the NSP to the LIE and get off at Springfield which is the exit before the CI. If I leave at 620 im usaully getting off the LIE at 7-7:05. so it iwill prob take you about 30 min im guessing just to get the the CI.

(I also now take 135 straight to the LIE now, so we can hit the HOV) but its still about the same time.

not sure about the traffic on the CI in the AM

NSP is not bad at all in the AM

at some point, unless you know the residential areas and can go around, you have to take the cross bronx - after that there are a few other options

traffic on the CI in the AM is always going North, unless there is an accident or something south

Re: NWR...How long is your commute?

where the most traffic will be is from the bridge to the bronx river, once u get on the bronx river, it wont be bad to fordham road

but from the bridge to there could be at least 35 min.
