Re: NYC Employees-Who is in work today?
My commute wasn't that bad. I have to work late tonight and drive to Rockaway for my p/t job, so I am not looking forward to that!

Re: NYC Employees-Who is in work today?
I'm here but, I work downtown and commute from Hoboken so, other than the PATH being a bit slower and more crowded because they are running fewer trains on the line (to run shuttles from 33rd to World Trade Center).I'm surprised though how many people are in my office from areas affected by the strike! We don't have any sort of contingency plan, most people got to midtown somehow and took the PATH.
This evening will be interesting though, I have tickets to see a Broadway show tonight.

I am scared of getting home also.... I am going to try and leave before three to avoid the mess, although I am sure it will be terrible even then....
There are certain entrances you have to go in to PEnn station depending on where you are going. And then you have to wait on line at those particular entrances....
i saw that too..but didn't see that take effect this morning when i came in. hope it won't be too bad.
i got into the office about 15 minutes later than i normally do and i left my house the same time and took the same train as always. (should've stayed home though, no one else is in the office yet!
)

When we were getting off the trains they said to go to the specific entrances for the commute this afternoon/evening. I have a feeling its going to be REALLY bad.... There aren't too many people at my office either.. oh well...

Glad to hear that you ladies had a fairly easy commute this morning.

Re: NYC Employees-Who is in work today?
I've been at work since 8:45. About 1/4 of the office out today...maybe a little more. I walked to work this morning, only 20 blocks or so. But it was a bit chilly out there! Can't wait for it to be colder and dark on the walk home! Yippee!

Re: NYC Employees-Who is in work today?
I stayed home. My boss told me if I didn't have to be there to stay. I didn't want to be in the middle of it especially for the commute home. I take LIRR and the stop at Jamaica was taking on people who usually take the E,J,M into midtown. There were lines of people on the news waiting for LIRR trains at Jamaica. All my trains hit Jamaica.I am just remoting into my office and working. I have my phones forwarded.

I'm here. We only have to work 6 hours though so I'm leaving by three. It can't come soon enough.At least they are giving us comp days for the days we can come in! I need to bank all the days I can for the wedding.

I don't work in the city office anymore, but 85% of our temps are from Queens, and Brooklyn. So ofcourse all of our clients are calling b/c the temps are a no show
I hope this thing clears up soon

one plus is that I am going to Century 21 at lunch today. for ONCE it might be a pleasurable experience. LOL- I'll keep you posted! It's unpleasant on any given day, but usually the holidays there even turn ME into a grinch (and I am very tolerant and festive during this time of year
)

I'm here - I'm going to stay late and do some tourist free Christmas shopping. My office has offered to put us up in hotel rooms if it becomes necessary (there are only a couple of us).

maybe I'll see you around Melissa...it's actually kinda nice to have the city less packed for once, even though it costs us so much money in lost revenue

Good luck! It looked pretty empty (for Century 21) when I walked by this morning!
