I just don't understand why people get all crazy and defensive by what is said on the internet. Who gives a $hit - do what you effing want, but be prepared that others may not agree with you. But that's just me.Edited for spelling

Ok so if you didnt have the luxury of having someone throw a bridal shower for you and you had to do it yourself you wouldnt send out registry info b/c its coming from you? There are many girls on here who helped in planning their showers oh but wait the guest dont know that- so I guess it would be a secret that you asked for gifts-
or just like how hmmmm I will put my website and include my registry so that it doesnt look like Im coming right out and asking, Im hiding behind a website to do it for me and since there will be other info on the website it wont look like Im asking for gifts - ahhhh I get it now.

I thought that the registry info shuold not come from the bride. That's why it's sent with the shower invites, since it's not given by the bride.![]()
YEP!!!!! Hotel and travel info should go with the save the date, it's really tacky to include registry info-it's asking for gifts.
this is what gets me- not that you wouldn't do it, but that you call others tacky for doing it. that is unfair.
so, sending the registry info is asking for gifts, but the ACT of registering isn't. so, I guess etiquette and logic are not one in the same.
again, I am not knocking anyone for following any particular set of rules ( I myself will not send the registery info) I just think it's cruel to rip someone apart (TACKY is a very hurtful word to associate to someone's taste and style) if they choose NOT to follow them.
I just think we should ALL be giving EACH OTHER a little leeway here.
Alright, I'll agree tacky is a strong word. I think sending registry info might 'put people off a bit'.
I would never include registry info in anything I ever sent to anyone. JMHO.
Someone else posted that it's okay when a shower is given for the bride because the brides doesn't usually know about the shower, they aren't the ones hosting it, it's someone else sending out invite and registry cards. I think that's exactly right.
If it had been sent with an engagement party invite, I would have understood the logic behind it more, it's still not something that I would do-I don't get sending it with the STD.
I am also following those same guidelines b/c it's no skin off my back not to. I agree that there are people that would be put off by it and I think that's kind of sad. it should be a joyous occassion all around. anyway, it has actually been a pleasure posting our differing opinions- I thank you for looking at what I said and seeing it for what it is- an opinion and not an attack. so thanks!

I also do not understand why people get so upset over minor insignificant bull$hit. Do what you want, who cares what anyone else thinks. Let them think it is tacky if that is what they think. This is ridiculous

If no one threw me a shower, I would not throw myself one. Again, just IMO.
I think you being just as condescending and disrespectful as you stated about other posters on this thread.

Why are you getting so mad? Do what you want, it's your wedding. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Well I can only speak for myself, it is the internet but when there are GTG's or events hosted by LIW it becomes more personal- especially since we are here to HELP eachother- and then some start getting mean.

But why take it so personally, is all I'm asking? Does it really matter in the grand scheme of things? To put all this energy on something like this is a waste, IMO, I'd rather put it towards something else.

You know what youre right! No it doesnt matter, Im allready married and it was a blast. I come on here to help future brides with ideas and yes it bothers me how some can be really mean and continue to be mean especially after they read that some of us did it - like I posted right away on the topic- and continue to be mean and give an opinion that was NOT asked for!- but some gave thier opinions and thats all good. what comes around goes around. Ive been on this board long enough to see it-

I agree. To throw your own is not in good taste.
I've never heard of anyone on here throwing their own and sending out their own invites (would the guests RSVP to the bride?) but I've only been on here a few years so it's possible.

I do not see how posting on a public forum is not an act of inviting people to respond and give opinions? I agree, some should have been more tactful and respectful in their comments, but to get all upset about it is ridiculous because you just can't control other people and how their act or respond to things. The only thing you can control are your own responses and actions.

Re: re-post from BHB: Got a STD in the mail with....
I think it's a little off-putting to include the registry cards in the STD's. At that point, the guests are being given a head's up on your date so they can fit it into their schedules. IMO, it looks like you are asking for a gift regardless of whether or not they can attend your wedding.Including it in the shower invites is a little different, b/c those guests are generally closer in relationship to the bride, and would probably give a gift even if they were not able to attend.

Re: re-post from BHB: Got a STD in the mail with....
It is not appropriate to include registry cards in wedding invites or STD cards. It is appropriate to include them in shower invites. Why? Because the purpose of a shower is to 'Shower the bride (or mommy to be) with gifts'
The purpose of an e-party is to celebrate a couple's engagement. Gifts are not required. The purpose of a wedding is to celebrate a marriage. Gifts are not required.
To be honest, if I received a STD with registry info, I would probably not attend that wedding. To me, that's like saying 'My wedding is next year. This is where I want you to go and buy my gifts..I'll send you an invite later' instead of saying 'please save the date for my wedding, invitation to follow'

Oh my goodness....its gets really heated in here. Its an opinion....everyone has one but it doesn't dictate what we as brides want to do. Everyone is different....and we know our family and friends therefore we would know if its something they would be bothered with.
Come on girls....let it be and let's move on to the next one
